Beak set: Better than AF 58-60?

Aside from the shield skill on the AF boots and possibly cover enhancement from coronet, most of the boni from the AF pieces (not counting the armor) seem pretty useless (a point could be made for the AGI on the pants, though). That said, and looks aside, would using the entire beak set be better from 58-60? Each of the pieces has a few defense less than AF, but the +1s all offer 2 VIT (except armor), which is pretty nice.

So, would using the beak set (except the boots maybe) be possibly better than the AF pieces from 58-60? You'd lose a total anywhere from 4-6 enmity, but for every point of enmity lost, you'd gain one point of VIT.

Unless all the DDs in your PTs do their job poorly, you will be thankful for every piece of enmity+ you get. It really /does/ help a lot more than most people realize. Also...after you get a bit of it, the VIT isnt very noticable anymore, at least compared to some enmity+

The +Enmity on PLD AF is a lifesaver. To be honest, the amount of VIT you will get from food + AF set + sword + rings is plenty enough for most of the game's normal exp encounters, save for endgame stuff and special stuff.

Once you start getting 58 onwards, you're really going to start to see a lot more hard hitting DD's and you're going to want that +Enmity very badly.

So no, the beak jerkin is DEFINITELY not better to use than AF set. In fact, PLD AF set is one of the few sets that you can HONESTLY use all the way to level 75 without any problem or being gimped.

the only beak you'd wanna use is the body, just from 58 until AF3. that being said, its ugly as sin so I just skipped it ^^; You're never gonna replace AF with anything until adaman/koenig really, hate+6 from those AFs is infinitely better than VIT+ from beak.

I don't mind an entire leather set, but leather body + AF pieces looked really weird, so I considered using the entire beak set. :p

one thing thats pretty nice is Byrnie as a replacement for AF body. Like AF but has nicer stat+, and the attack+ as a replacement for the enmity+. and it looks nice :thumbsup:

Agreed, Byrnie is a very nice piece of armor. Damn me for buying a Haubergeon (for skillup) when Byrnie was actually cheaper than Haubergeon (1.3 million). Now it's 3.2 million. :dead:
