View Full Version : Race Persoanlities

Hey everyone!

I don't know if this is just me, but for every specific race, I find that each of those people have a different personality. Now you must be saying, "In game, or out?" Well of course I'm talking about the PLAYER. I found that each player chooses a speciic race that fits their personality the best. This is what I've noticed so far:

Elvaan: These people are often, how should I say this in a good way...? Cocky. They usually think they know everything and they think they are always the best at what they do. Now, I don't mean to bash Elvaan, but this is just what my analysis has been for the race. These are the type of people that are often concerned with looks, as well. Despite the flaws that an Elvaan has, they usually know what they are doing (if they aren't brand new to the game). They are also pretty "cool" people when you get to know them or are a friend of theirs. They just think they are better than you.

Galka: Here are the characters! Galka are hilarious people who have BIG personalities to match their emence size. They are usually the ones in the party that keeps the dialogue going or they just always have something funny to say. They aren't too big on being one of "the best" however so i wouldn't expect to see too many Galka that have up-to-date equipment all the time. Another really great thing about these people is that they know when it is time for buisness and they get it done right.

Hume: I've noticed that whomever chooses Hume doesn't like limiting themselves to one decision. They like haveing a variety of choices and like to learn multiple things even if they can't know all of it. One of the downfalls I found in these people is that they either have little to no personality, or they are very boring people. They also often don't bother with maxing out their characters and have multiple jobs at multiple levels. They also don't like to buy very good equipment. This, however, is the default choice and FF XI consists of mostly HUMEs (in my experience) which makes this the mojority of players.

Mithra: Mithra, I've noticed, are often played by females. If they aren't, these are "l33t" people who think every single stat counts. Mithra are usually energetic people who like to have fun. I find they are similar to Galka, only their humor is more... "cute". This race used to be small in number, but I've noticed that many more people are becoming Mithra (a lot of them must notice this is actually the BEST race ^,~) You can usually tell the difference between the female and male characters because the males think they know everything.

Tarutaru: To be honest, it is pretty hard to define a Tarutaru. I've noticed that some of them can be really happy and spunky. Others can be the most evil, rude and angry people in the entire game. They often have an affinity towards magic and these are the type of people who, if they played D&D, would ALWAYS be a mage class. However, some of these people think that Tarutaru make for some pretty interesting job combinations and like to incorrporate mage classes with melee. Oftn rule-breakers.

These are the things I've noticed with many of the characters of that specific race. I'm not saying that EVERYONE fits in the description of their race, this is just what I've noticed the majorty is. If anyone has anything to agree or disagree with, I'd be glad to hear it! Thanks for taking the time to read this! (^_^) b

Yeah, of-course they are. I've actually met many female Mithra players (well I guess I don't know for sure, but I'm reasonably sure), however I still wouldn't say most of them are.

Interesting. Here are my opinions though.

Elvaan: The "omguberl33t" race for immature children to pick. I have only met very few elvaan players that actually have brains.

Galka: Generally knowledgable and considerate to other players. Some are clueless in a naive way though, but are usually willing to listen to constructive criticism.

Hume: About 50% tend to be either stupid or unwilling to listen to others. The other 50% are normal non-sociopathic human beings.

Mithra: I only know three mithra that are female in reality. I just assume the rest are male. =P I find mithra to usually be humorous in a more mature way, like with witty comments. These players at least to me seem to be the most aggressive as well, and don't complain too often unless someone is being completely out of line.

Tarutaru: Mixture of dirty pervs and cutie pies.

HEY!!! This is extremely racist of you!!! These things are nowhere near the truth and some down-right wrong/insulting!

(and yet some seem to be true... so I will just give my opinions)

Elvaan:
These guys can be some of the most polite and considerate people out there. Immaturity trait is not true based on the race choice at all. The only thing that I would agree upon is that they tend to be PROUD about being Elvaan and do stress the "I am the best" attitude vs. other races more than most people. Not neccessarily in an immature way, but more in a fun and joking way. This trait is also shared with TaruTaru (if you even seen {Tarutaru} {Power} {Impossible to gauge}).

Galka:
I would say that my opinion on these guys is "vanilla". I do not see an outstanding way to describe them. But I will say this much: these guys seem to have a better temper than most people. They don't necessarily are more joking and such, but are sometimes more tolerant and try to find the most "proper" way to deal with a social confrontation.

Hume:
This is where it gets personal to me, and let me tell you right now: I AM HUME BECAUSE I MADE A DECISION, not because I can't make a decision. You know what the decision I made was? I made the decision to play only 1 character, and not have multiple characters. I also made the decision that I do not want to reply alot of the game over in terms of Rank missions and quests. I wanted 1 character to have everything I did on them, not to be shared with some other character.

When I choose HUME, I choose it to ensure that I do not paint myself into a corner and be stuck. I will agree that I do have many jobs at many different levels, but that is not b/c I can't make a decision but b/c I want to explore different aspects of the game. Believe me, I played Monk for 10 months before I changed and started to play Red Mage to see the mage side of the gameplay.

BORING PEOPLE?! {Impossible to gauge} {Hundred Fists}!

Just a clarification about maxing characters: it might be true for me, as I still have not taken the time to get that high. So I can't defend myself on something that actualy is true thus far. However, I would like to point out that I DO BUY THE BEST EQUIPMENT (if I can afford it), and I DO FARM AND SPEND TIME TRY TO BUY GIL FOR GOOD EQUIPMENT (if I cannot afford it). One of the main reasons I did not continue with Monk and was stuck there for a little bit was that I was farming for my Kote, +3% Haste boots, and +accuracy armor. It is a big jump for Monk (and for me being a "gil-challenged" player at the time), but I spent the time and got the stuff!!

I make it a rule not to play a job if I feel I am gimped in any way!!

Don't look down on me b/c I a HUME!!! {Impossible to gauge} {/slap}
... ok, maybe I will not /slap... {Cure IV} :spin:

Mithra:
Since you are Mithra you did not hit their bad points. Mithra are a mixed bag (as in every race on here!). But I notice that they use thier /emotes alot (same with Tarutaru). And they know how to use them to do some unordinary things....

Tarutaru:
As you said... some of the nicest people I know are Taru... and yet the most annoying and POS character I have EVER met in the game is a Tarutaru... amazing...

Hee hee! Calm dow Modnar, i didn't say that YOU were that way! I said the majority of people I have analysed. And the things you do... aside from the non-good equipment is pretty true to what I said about Hume XD I meant no offense, so don't take any =P

Interesting thread, I say elvaan=IMTEHUBERL337 8 year olds, Galka like Balgas said are the knowledgable and considerate people, majority not well-equipped. Mithra are deffinitely the "elites" and I kinda find some to be like "sassy" or whatever you wanna call it, for some reason I dont get along with a lot of mithras:p . Humes I think are boring, noobs, or like some call me, crazy and obnoxious, lol. TaruTaru again like Balgas said are normally pervs or cute...whatever you wanna say:thumbsup:

Ironically its kinda true...not eveyrone is like that its more often than not. I DO feel more plain playing my hume than my taru however..i really do, it sorta comes with it i guess.

My close friend is Elvaan and he is alot like a know it all xD he doesnt mean it in a bad way no it just seems that way sometimes. Most elvaans do have higher pride, a few i know are like that.

Galka are FUNNY, they do lots of wierd things and are fun to be around with, they usually joke the Family Guy jokes more often xD

Humes depends, the bald one tend to be rude >< I dont know why but its that way at least in valk. The ones with hair depends, the one i choose seem to be plainer in personality, while some of the more young looks seem to have a more youthful and more energetic personality even in macros.

MIthra..depends some of em are playful just teas-ish, guys are just..i dont know sarcastic if play mithra xD My friend i love deeply IS very cute as mith.

Taru: I do act ultra cute...>_> i dont know why but i tend to be more silly on my taru. @_@ /panic zOMG LOOK AT ME DANCE! /think THERES SOMETHING IN MY EAR!

I haven't really met that many roleplayers on FFXI...which makes me very sad. I suppose it's my server...but still.

I mostly play my mithra as energetic and always willing to pick a fight. On certain subjects, she becomes very quiet and sort of alienates herself. When discussion touches on her mother, she gets slightly ticked out and tries her best to distance herself from her mother's image. After all...if your mom was Nanaa Mihgo and people kept classifying you as a burglar, you'd get pretty peeved as well.

Quite the contrary,

There's a lot of roleplayers, it just looks like they don't realize they are doing it.

Elvaan: Arrogant, willful, caught up in the prestige of being who they are. Looking cool means more than anything else. Yeah they look down their nose at you if you aren't. Pretty good at what it is they do, namely slugging it out with a weapon while looking like nothing can hurt them.

Galka: Kinda of Passive but fun, tough, and overall just jovial personalities. They do the wrong things at times and get stepped on a lot due to plain old naivety. Kinda like the old family dog.

Hume: Always playing things to their advantage, not really interested in what someone else has to say, no one really worth their time unless they want something out of you. Sometimes can mean... "Adrenaline junkie". Always out to prove to themselves what they can do and push their own limits. Half of them have a concience and can be compassionate, unfortunately the other half doesn't.

Mithra: Either naive and fun loving, or quiet and and more interested in efficiency. they really don't like being the target of attacks and their not very good at that either, many times hide behind their percieved cuteness and try to be playful, but thats just to catch you off guard and make you protect them. They need someone else to take a beating for them while they dish it out.

Taru: Some of the cutest things to watch. Some just like being that way. Unfortunately not very sturdy and know it, makes them insecure and they get "little man" syndrome that makes them nasty and vicious. But to those who can handle being vulnerable, they are some of the nicest, understanding, and kind people you've ever met.

So... there's your roleplaying. And just think, the people doing this don't even know they are doing it.

When you get to the AA's in the late Zilart Missions, the NPC's start naming the fatal flaws of each race... Galka definately has the best flaw as far as "Coolness Factor" goes.

Doesn't fit the player's personalities of Galkas from what I've seen, but it fits what their stats are.

I think this really depends on your server. I have found on Leviathan server that Mithras tend to be the know it all arrogant type. I had a level 24 Mithra WAR with no subjob tell me they didn't need one until level 30 and they could then get their advanced jobs and sub job at the same time.

Most of my ingame friends are Elvaan and then are nice and considerate.

I really don't think you can classify any of the races according to the players behind them.

I've met many dumbass Galka, Mithra, Elvaan, Hume, and Tarutaru.

I've met many rude/obnoxious Galka, Mithra, Elvaan, Hume, and Tarutaru.

I've met l337 Galka, Hithra, Elvaan, Hume, and Tarutaru.

Over all, I don't notice many people acting differently at all because of their race unless they're actual role players, who aren't very common.

Now that's funny, hume.

Of course, I'm a hume myself.

Here's what I found about the other classes' players...

Elvaan: I've met the worst and the best of these players. It seems though most are too competitive for their own good, everything's got to be a competition.

Galkan: Oohh, I love galkan players! Even when I pick on them for their smelly armpits or butts, these players become the funniest ever!

Tarutaru: What the hell's up with these guys? I've come across a few good players, but the rest are plain-out n00bing! They are only interested in MONEY!

Mithra: I love eating their tails, taste like hotdogs! Alright, I've been around enough of them to know they're very curious players.

Now humes, that's something else. Most of us like to emote almost anything. We're naive, creative, extravagenzent (is that a word?), funny, mean, nice, but very optimistic.

First off, I'm an Elvaan male warrior ( As you can see.. yes I need to update my signature/Avatar <.<).. Anywho..

I compare myself to others' gear and skill, but not openly. I don't complain too much unless some rouge no-subjob-warrior in Valkurm decides to provoke whenever I do, and I kindly ask him to only provoke when he sees,
(Provoke) &(Utsusemi) ~~~ o.- (Blink)

I try to even help people who need it, and sometimes even give advice to low-ish people. Sometimes it's even the people who already have their advanced jobs, but not quite sure what type of gear they need.

Now mind you, sometimes I do get a little touchy when people think they know it all and try to tell me how to do my job when I know I'm doing perfectly fine.

I /do/ Roleplay, and my character /does/ look down on those he thinks are just.... well, not as, how to say it... Well, let's just say the NPCs in windurst get picked on alot when I'm there. He doesn't show too much hatred to the hume race due to his wife is one :P

As for Mithra, most of the ones I've met on fairy are either one extreme or another. They're either A~~hats, or very nice and helpful.

Galka, most of these are Japanese on our server, the NA ones I've met were newbies, but the Japanese ones laugh alot at my wife and I's rediculous translations. ( Our favourite being ' I'm sorry. I'm allergic to penicillan)

TaruTaru, I've also met the extremes here. Alot of Tarutaru I've met were nasty little buggers, but those were mainly Black Mages. I've met the perverted ones, and I've also met the ones that are too nice for their own good, provoke when it's the last resort, and fall due to a lack of WHM mp. I like having these little guys in my party, because alot of times we'll be fortunite to pick up the silly ones that play along with my wife and I's jokes and such... we had a 5 mage party and a warrior once, 3 of the mages were Tarutaru. We even had names for them all--
One was Carbuncle, One was a Rat, one was a Duck. My wife was a fox, I a penguin, and the other mage a Seed...

Hume, They seem to be all over the map in my opinion. There are those like my wife who are great at what they do, know it, but don't say anything about it. There are the types that know they're good, and make it known. There are the types that don't know what they're doing at all, but think they do. There are those that don't know what they're doing and want help, and there are the A~~hats, the perverts, and everything in between.

Lastly, my race. I have met the Elvaan players who think they are better than everyone else, but I've also met the kinder elvaan who give away things to those who need it, help people, and such. I've also met the newbie ones that think They > Everyone even though their skill stinks to high hell.

So yes, maybe the race can tell you about a person's personality, but don't base it on that. Get to know them well. Some Galka are big, nasty brutes... which I've had the 'pleasure' of knowing. Some tarutaru are deceptive, nice at first but then bite you in the hiney like some vicious Chihuahua with rabies.
Some elvaan and humes are horses' rears at first, but then later on show they really care about the party and people's feelings.

Also, most mithra I've met are infact, Manthra.

I am manthra.

I also get accused at times for playing on acid, while all I have consumed recently is a bowl of Cheerios and some Vanilla Tea. Dunno what that tells yah.

I am also a rather casual player. Not bothering too much with gear, levels, money etc. I am level 61 now and recently reaced my all time high on gil of a whooping 15o'ooo. xP
At the moment all I want is to do Missions, and maybe make some money to buy some stuff I should get. Like the elemental staves, been mooching them of a friend for a while now and he wants em back soon. ;O

I've met the same amount of Galka idiots as Elvaan idiots. There's always a good amount of skilled Galka players as there are Elvaan which is nice.

On Seraph the taru are very arrogant and they'll leave your party if the EXP isn't fast enough. Most of them have a very acute holier than thou complex.

Hume and mithra are both pretty bland. That's probably because I see mithra more as an object than a person. But hey, that's my problem. *swivels camera around for the close-up on the mithra butt*
