I had a chance to go to this new BCNM60 yesterday.

There are four ghost NMs. From the left, they are,

- Shredded Samson
- Mauled Murdock
- Annihilated Anthony
- Punctured Percy

Once we start to attack one of them, rest of them disappear. So it is basically the fight between 3 players and 1 ghost NM. We're allowed to have 15 minutes.

Each NM has both weekness and strength. For example, Mualed Murdock is weak on protrusion (= piercing weapons) but strong against blunt (= Hand to Hand, Club, etc.).

Anyway, I went there with some LS mates. My PT consisted of

- RNG/NIN
- BRD/WHM
- RDM/WHM

The NM uses all special attacks of ghosts along with some enfeebling, LV2 -ga elemental, LV3 elemental and ancient magic spells. Here's how we did.

In summary, it was one of the easiest BCNMs I ever had but rewards were nice. I got

- Trailer's Kukri
- Hi-Ether Tank
- Libation Abjuration
- Oblation Abjuration
- Rainbow Cloth
- Steal Ingot
- 3x Silk Cloth
Total 460K - 470K worth

My friend, Kesler (RNG/NIN), got both Trailer's Kukri and Knightly Mantle (260K). A little too late but a nice Christmas Gift :p

By the way, most of enfeebling spells didn't land. I only confirmed Dia II, Poison II and Slow landed. However, a combo of Carnage Elegy and Slow was perfect. Kesler took 80 - 90 points of damage per hit but we didn't have any problem.

I left my Fire Staff in the safe and I didn't feel like nuking but Fire II did some damage. I think it must be fun for us to use bow and arrows with RNG sub. Ask BRD to sing Hunter's Prelude (+ Ballad II) on us and we can do SC (Side/Slug -> Side/Slug) with RNG, hehe. Otherwise, WHM sub is recommended for Cursna.

I think I'm gonna go there again because I want Elusive Earring (evasion +5).

Sucky Abjuration, but besides that, it seems pretty easy.

nice video Grendal-san. i liked the credits at the end :)

btw, aside from prelude, minuet, elegy and ballad, what else was the BRD for? i am wondering if he spot could have been replaced by another DD or something.

During the fight, BRD/WHM mostly took care of stats cures since I was busy in watching RNG's life. Well, that must be all

I think his spot can be replaced by another DD if Sidewinder/Slug Shot doesn't miss the target without Prelude. It is true that I didn't use Convert at all because of double ballads but I think I can manage my MP consumption without them although I need to use Convert once.

BTW, you don't always have to stick to Mauled Murdock. According to other reports I read, a PT consisting of NIN, DRK and RDM can easily beat Shredded Samson (Weakness: Slashing Weapons / Strength: blunt).

Does attacking a different NM give different jobs? Great Vid, Great Credits, lol

Since each NM has different weakness and strength, there should be better PT setup depending on which one we choose.

- Shredded Samson (Weak: Slashing / Strong: Blunt)
- Mauled Murdock (Weak: Protrusion / Strong: Blunt)
- Annihilated Anthony (Weak: Magic / Strong: Protrusion & Slashing)
- Punctured Percy (Weak: Blunt / Strong: Protrusion & Slashing)

We chose BRD, RDM and RNG for Mauled Murdock but I would take MNK/NIN for Punctured Percy.

By the way, S-E seemed to make mistakes (or just tricking us?) creating their weakness and strength because they don't match their names. Mauled Murdock should be weak on Blunt and Punctured Percy should be on Protrusion.

Or it could be that since they are ghosts, they were killed by the method that their name's describe, and therefor have researched ways to prevent against that in the afterlife.

I did this bcnm 6 times.

PLD/WAR
DRK/WAR
RDM/WHM

Melees took holy waters because the ghost will do AOE curse. I pretty much just kept me and the PLD refreshed, and kept the PLD alive.

I only used Slow/Para debuffs on the ghost, but they both seemed to help quite a bit. We fought Shredded Samson (weak vs sword). The DRK did some crazy damage on it w/ a greatsword.

In 6 runs, we only got 1 knightly mantle and 1 elusive earring. The DRK said he went back with some other LS mates and did it 4 more times and got an elusive earring for every battle.

The battles were easy, as long as everyone runs away when the ghost starts casting ancient magic. if that magic hits, it's very very dangerous, and the ghost can't be silenced. I also had trouble dispelling ice spikes. I finally gave up.. i'm not sure if it's possible or not, but I couldn't seem to do it. Had to paralyna the melees a bit.

I think I'm in the double digits in this one, and of all the attempts, we've only wiped once, and had to run away once to avoid wiping.

The one time we ran away, we followed bad information and criss-crossed Mauled Murdock and Punctured Percy (as Shredded Samson is weak to slashing, and Annihilated Amsel is weak to magic, we thought the trend would continue). Lineup was DRG/THF, PLD/WAR, RDM/WHM and we just weren't doing any damage.

The one time we wiped Samson decided to use Bane and Thundaga II back to back while I was in the middle of Converting, and killed the PLD. DRK followed soon after and then myself.

The rest of the fights were easy wins. This BCNM is a total pushover.

Shredded Samson is a solid choice for pretty much every lineup. He is very weak to slashing weapons (DRKs absolutely destroy him) but he isn't particularly resistant to piercing or blunt weapons. DRGs, MNKs, THFs and RNGs all do respectable damage despite not having the strong weapon type. He is highly resistant to magic though, nukes typically got at least a 1/2 resist, debuffs were resisted the vast majority of the time, and he's immune to Dispel.

RDM with a Marron Glace does exceptionally well as main healer for this fight. The only thing that gets nasty is when the ghost you choose to fight uses Bio III, which you can't handle. Everything else is cake. Casting Barblizzara + Barparalyzra right before the melees engage is very helpful to counter the Ice Spikes they nearly always cast, and which you can't Dispel. I typically run through 1.5 MP bars during this fight, sometimes more if something goes awry.

The most important tip I can give for this fight is if you have a PLD tank, have them burn down to 1/2 MP as quickly as possible. Sometimes you don't get Bane'd practically at all (very strong curse, drops you to 1/2 HP and MP, Cursna removes it, as do Holy Waters), sometimes they spam it like no tomorrow. A simple "use it or lose it" precaution, since there's no guarantee the PLD will have more than half their max MP for any length of time.

Also, the ghosts cannot be stunned and have a habit of using Ancient Magic liberally. This is the best news you can possibly get. It's a free 19 seconds for your DD to beat on the ghost while it sits there doing nothing. NIN tank can blink it off, PLD tank needs to disengage and run directly across the BC to the far side (fight him near a wall so that you have plenty of distance to use) because the ghosts cannot be reliably stunned, either by spell or by WS/JA.

Drops are fairly consistent, the Trailer's Kukri is common, Knightly Mantle and Elusive Earring are about equal in rarity (Mantle might be *slightly* more common), and you'll usually see 2-3 kukris and usually 1 of each of the other two in 3 orbs. Every now and again you get a bum orb that drops nothing but a Hi Ether tank, so you do run a risk (maybe 1 in 5 or 6) of getting a bad set of drops. Also, 1 Rainbow Cloth, 3 Silk Cloths, and 1 each of Libation and Oblation abjurations are 100% drops.
