I'm going to import FFXI and subscribe under the japanese import. Then going to enter the credit card number and all, so I'm able to play. Then in the end of 2003 and I'm going to get the NA version of FFXI. Will I still be able to play on the account I used to on the imported version of FFXI if that account is still running ?
Little simpler: Can I log on the same account in the Jap or NA version if that account is still up ? or will I have to subscribe again
Sorry if it isint very clear, I did my best:sweat:
Thanks ^_^

Unfortunately, at this time, it appears that you won't be able to use the same account... I wish you could though! Because I want to play the game in English, but I'm not really looking forward to have to do all that work (and believe me... it's a LOT of work) to get my character up to where my Jap. character was.
It's mainly an issue with coding, since the game will be in another language... that's what I've read elsewhere, at least.
Can somebody a little more knowledgeable shed some light on this?

Thats really weird, it's the same account and credit card number. I should still be able to play :dead:

Really, I think it could be possible
1) Since most of the data is online, all you need to do is get on an english server and it should show all the text in english. This is possible, but it probably isn't likely unless a lot of people complain.
*picks up stick and heads to Square HQ*
heheh, everybody send massive amounts of complaints to Square when the NA version comes out if you can't use your old accout!:spin:

Well think about it, the Japanese version will be filled with Jap speaking people, and the NA version will be stacked with english speaking people, now, I don't really think all those Japanese speaking guys will start talking english n'either do I think Square is going to translate every japanese chat character (letters) into english. But that would be pretty stupid if they didn't let us use the same account.
I would really appriciate it if someone would tell me once they have straight and clear answer, thanks ^_^

I said if you want you could switch to an english server and use your old accout, not that all jap people will move over. Also, the japanese characters, or "chat characters" as you call them, are stored on your computer, not the server. it is your decision whether to type in english or japanese. alright?

I don't think technical issues are the real reason, though. They can move characters from server to server, so it shouldn't be very difficult.
But I bet many players in NA would be disappointed to start on the first day of release and find that a bunch of high level players already exist. Also, I don't think Square would be especially interested in accomodating those of us who imported, since the box says "FOR JAPAN ONLY" right on it.

I see "for Windows"...heheh....oh, there it is, bottom right on the back, "FOR JAPAN ONLY"....they probably thought of this in advance and put that tag there.
whatever, it would be fun to start over on a new char anyway since there might be new beginning jobs by then.
