Hows exactlly does Magic Attack Bonus work?

Had a friend last night help me get my Moldy Earing, and I was wondering now exactlly how the Magic Attack Bonus works.

It's a % increase to nuke damage. Moldavite earring will cause nukes to do 5% more damage.

Its not something thats "OMG MUST HAVE" at the level you can equip it, but its a very nice accessory to have 60+

5% dmg increase isnt correct....

My Aero 3 does 399 unresisted without earring

with earring it does 411 unresisted....

This is at level 73.... :sweat:

go kill some level 2 bunnies and test it for yourself

5% increase is actually correct but remember it is added to "Magic Attack Bonus," not to the base damage itself.

Therefore, it doesn't mean we get exactly 5% more damage. For example, if you have Magic Attack Bonus IV, your spell damage is calculated by

[Base Damage] x 1.32

With the earring, it's going to be

[Base Damage] x (1.32 + 0.05)

When the Base Damage is 100, you get 132 without it and 137 with it. 137 / 132 = 1.0378..... Only 3.7% increase for BLM70.
