Please try doing some File Check.
Please try to find the menu command 'File Check' ?uファイルチェック?v. It scans through the defect of the date on HDD. Sorry I cannot remember on which list it was...
I hope you can find it.

If you have installed FFXI on your HDD other than your system drive, there might be problem in the connection of the IDE cable between your secondary HDD and the Mother Board. If you can open your computer case and manage to make sure the connection of the cable, please try to do so.

Looks like it can't find a file now. I can't translate the whole sentence, but it's got ファイル (file), 見 (to look/see), and ません (negative present tense).
Your best bet would be to re-install both PlayOnline and FFXI. That's what worked with my friend. I don't have much of an idea, though, because I have the PS2 version.

im gonna have to wait till i can get a full translation. Unfortunatly I have reinstalled both about 4 times already... but if you think it will work then I sappose I could.

This is the Playonline Filechecker.
It says there were no problems found.
Try the FFXI file checker. Or run windows scandisc.
Ever tried to defrag your hard drive? I think this should help.
