I just shelled out a million gil for Aquilo's Staff (Ice Staff +1) and SUPPOSEDLY somone says it adds 15% dmg instead of 10% dmg. I didnt notice a DAMN THING! Did I just waste my money and should I sell it back and buy a serket ring instead?!?!?!!!?!??

so yer saying I should keep it, I heard from a friend that at like 70+ people start using light skillchains mostly, making my ice useless? TRUE?

First off, Aquilos staff will only increase the damage of your ice spells by 15%. So, if you're casting any other spells, you won't notice any difference (except a 15% reduction in Aero damage). Second off, what type of lv3 skillchain your party makes is entirely dependant on the composition of the party and what you're fighting. If you have a drk/thf (very popular), you'll be bursting on darkness. If you have a monk, you'll be bursting on light. Really just depends.
That's my serious response to a question that I'm fairly sure wasn't serious. Oh well

Me personally i would say get a fire and thunder staff before you got an Aquilo.

I have a Drk/thf in my static, and he closes Light SC's much, much more often then Dark (dark was used before our war got mistral with pld + swift blade) with Spinning Slash - definately drk's most popular ws after 66.
Anyway back on topic. Aquilo's is nice, but for the 1 million you just shelled out, you could buy at least 2 other elemental staffs. If your economy is anything like ours you can buy 5 lol. So i'd suggest you work on getting the other important elemental staffs like thunder, and fire (Wind, and Stone would be my next choices followed by water). So unless you have money to toss around, there's probably better ways to use your hard earned gil to increase your efficiency.

sell the aquilo, buy regular ice, dark, fire, and thunder staves. i'm sure you'll have money to spare after. if so, buy a wind...that should cover just about every spell casted or MBed. stone and water are used...like...almost never...except against ramuh, ifrit, velociraptors, or toramas, which will be about 1% of your ffxi life. in those cases, i say use an ice staff. if you're somehow insanely rich, then by all means buy the staves or the HQ versions. i plan to get the water and earth staves to finish my collection after i do the following:
buy cursed equipment
buy igqira
buy errant
get every single spell i can use for rdm and whm (up to 37)
level nin
level rng
upgrade a relic staff...ah hell, you get the idea :)

mwwwaaahbahahaha now if my dam serkit ring wasnt 2.4 million gil i'd be set.

I forgot to mention that I already have all the elemental staves. And I still have 400 or 700k to spare after buying aquilos. I was wondering if it was really worth the 1 million tho. Sadly the price last sold is 700k now. I should have waited

jeez, there's something horribly wrong about titan's economy. if the aquilo staff is only 390k, there's no excuse NOT to buy it. people willingly pay obscene amounts of money to up their damage by very small amounts. case in point: omniscient rings vs diamond rings. even if it is a mere 1-2 points more damage, people do it to be the best...with a 390k aquilo (or any other HQ for that matter) thats a steal! hell, i paid way more for my regular ice than that aquilo. aquilo on my server is 1.5 million, with all the other HQ staves hovering around 1-1.5 million except pluto and apollo. the pluto is about 300k less than what i paid for my dark months ago  . even with the staff prices this high, i would willingly buy the HQ ones if i had the gil way before i'd get a serket ring.
