I usually Voke, then after 15 seconds I do a Cure II then after 15 more do Shield Bash....
is that a good way to secure hate if repeated? (voke, cure, bash, voke, cure)

Pretty much, yes. At that lvl your best bet to keep hate is to voke every 30 seconds on the spot. At 30 you will get Sentinel, you can then alternate Sentinel and Shield bash for hate.
I recommend you voke, cast cure, voke, wait 10-15, Bash or Sentinel. Before I got Sentinel I saved Bash for when PT did an SC in the beginning of fight.

I know banish blows but if you have nothing else left on timer then fire away,
especially if the mob starts the long run into the mage cluster,

Not much you can do until 30 (Sentinel) then once you hit 37 you get Flash which makes tanking actually fun. :P

FYI, the hate generated by /ja (ie: provoke, bash, rampart) and Flashes "degenerates" over time while the hate created by your cures and the dmg u've done will not go away.
So, I personally believe it's a good idea to save the /ja like bash or sentinel for the time when u need extra hate, like someone's doing a curaga or a MB. It really depends on your pt setup, so the key is to be adaptive :)

thats not necessarily true. we've had so many discussions on this forum about how hate works, if any of it fades, if it all fades, it it only fades when you get hit, etc. I used to think it all faded, now i'm leaning more towards thinking none of it fades, except damage taken or certain other special attacks (being stunned, petrified, etc)

That's not true, except the fact that you'll lose hate when u get hit. Anyway, it's important for plds to exploit their knowledge of how hate works. As long as you're doing a good job, it does not matter which "theory" you believe in ;)

I"m actually kinda new to the pld scene. But i just got sentinel and it's great and all. But not yet have i had trouble keeping hate unless we got a "SUPER" thf or high dmg dealer at that moment is when u use one of those two job abilities, sentinal or bash. I don't believe you should use those abilities if the mob is already looking at you. Actually i like to toss a cure 1 every two hits that i take casting a voke every 30 seconds. The cure from hate builds up. Doing this i rarely loose hate, or keep it long enough to have a job ability available.
