Vrtra is the Hindu (Vedic) god of chaos. He is believed to be a primordial being existing before the formation of the cosmos, and was slain by the goddess Sarasvati.
In Hinduism, Vrtra (Sanskrit, "storm cloud") is a dark cloud of ignorance and sloth personified by a demon serpent that was vanquished by Indra. The story is the subject of several Vedic hymns, mentioned in the Rg Veda. A.G.H.

In Norse mythology, Jormungand is one of the three children of the god Loki and his wife, the giantess Angrboda. The gods were well aware that this monster was growing fast and that it would one day bring much evil upon gods and men. So Odin deemed it advisable to render it harmless. He threw the serpent in the ocean that surrounds the earth, but the monster had grown to such an enormous size that it easily spans the entire world, hence the name Midgard Serpent. It lies deep in the ocean where it bites itself in its tail, and all mankind is caught within his coils.
At the destruction of the universe, Jormungand and Thor will kill each other.

These things are no joke, Jormungand is almost undamagable, he resits hits both physical and magically more then Kirrn, virtually none of the 75 blm with best gear were able to hurt it and the 75 rangers were only doing 40-80 dmg on it and he has very high HP. Think about fighting this thing with 3-4 VT-IT aggros links, the whole fight. And also put in that it takes at least 10 mins at full attack mode to kill it 1% point. He also does a flying move that he uses to cast Bilzagaa 3 in 2 secs flat. And then does a physical attack move when he lands again, he can very, very, very easily 1 shot a whole allances of 18 people. Fun stuff. :spin:

Honestly, from what I can see... a straight up alliance of 18 75's cannot win against any of these. Tiamat is the same as Jormungand, cept fire instead of ice... and the zone is a little easier, except when it goes to night and the corses pop. There has to be something else too these fights.

Just an idea - why dont we gather all people on the server or just the 300 always standing around in lower jeuno - go fight, CALL FOR HELP on it and then let everyone smack it up? Just to see if it is possible to kill? I know it wont drop anything or give exp if you "Call for help" on it
- but just to see if it CAN be killed by if faced by 300 people.
Im in the Hades server - if anyone is up for the idea - Im game :)

Nice pictures. That one player's name is ironic...'Deadinsixty'. lolz
Would this work?
Honestly, the only way i can see beating one of these guys...is to have an alliance with 14 rangers/ninjas with the best gear possible and to use the rest of the slots all on the best arrows, and then 4 plds with best gear. And then to have like...4 full alliances with just all white mages and red mages. that might work, but it would take FOREVER!!! heh...also gonna want to have some scrolls of reraise for the people fighting. And so, the battle plan would basically be, the attacking alliance goes to fight the dragon, and the alliances of whitemages and redmages all choose one person to cure, and so there would basically be about 4 people to cure each person fighting. Two would cure one person at a time, and then when they run out of mp, they would rest, and the next two would cure, and so on. as for the rangers and plds, they would just keep laying it on the dragon, but in the event that the rangers somehow ran out of arrows...which i cant see how, since they should have like 30-40 slots full of arrows if they did all the gobbybag quests. well, if they ran out of arrows, then someone would have to deliver some to them O.O heh...I suppose if you try fighting somewhat similar to this, and if the whms and rdms stay as far away from AOEs as possible while still being able to cure their target, then this might work. GL, HF! lol
:spin:  :spin:
How much damage does a summoners astral flow do to these things? has anyone tried yet?...heh, if it does like 300 damage or so...that would be, 900 damage times as many summoners used if it actually worked =^_^= heh, the summons wouldnt even have to be attackin the dragon, they could be attackin some other enemy, since the astral flows are AOE...the mob would have to be rather close to the dragon though  :dead:

supposedly Jormundgand is the easiest of the 3 new dragons to beat. it drops the Mercurial Pole, it does like 7 dmg, gives +30 mp, and occasionally attacks 2 to 4 times.
i assumed tiamat was the easiest tho...cause, wasnt tiamat defeated on the shiva server a couple days ago?

I know for a fact that Tiamat has been beaten on Pandemonium, ran by the leader of one of the top JP HNM LS's in the server and checked him (for bazaar), his title was along the lines of "Tiamat Tamer". This was 2 days ago.
To tell you the truth the defense, strength, & HP of all 3 dragons are about the same. The difference is their SPs which they use multiple times and the environment you have to fight them in.
Vrtra Summons Skeletons and Ghosts constantly and you fight in a area with VT skeletons and ghosts (from a lvl 75 point of view).
Jormungand uses Blood Weapon which takes about 200-300 HP from you per hit and adds it to it's own health there are also a bunch of T-VT Bombs and VT-IT Elementals in the area.
Tiamat uses Mighty Strike and in the area there are various EP-T mobs.
Vrtra doesn't fly so it's AoE isn't as powerful as the other 2. When the other 2 fly, their AoE is about twice as strong, and it's normal hits (Ice for Jormungand and Fire from Tiamat) when flying will go right thru Blink/Utsusemi.
Taking the SPs and environment into consideration, I would say:
Vrtra>>>Jormungand>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Tiamat
Strongest-------------------------------------------Weakest

Tiamat has been defeated by EternalForce. I also checked Kaazu whom is in Bossanova and his title was World Serpent Slayer so I assume Bossanova also beat Tiamat but no confirmation. He may have gone with EF but I'm not sure.

I really don't see how Tiamat could be easier than Jormagand. The surrounding stuff around Tiamat is just as hard. VT corses are no joke, they AE silence and charm people. Thats as bad if not worse than bombs which can easily be stunned or kept slept the whole time. Eles pop just as often at Tiamat as well. The thing about Jorm that may seem like an advantage is the para on his AE which really can be cured fairly easily and quickly, both do terrorize which is much worse and uncurable. I think it boils down to the SP which I believe Tiamat's is much worse than Jorm's. Mighty strikes with this dragon was hitting a well equipped pld( missing 3 koenigs but basically best buyable eq) for 550-600 on mighty strikes which it can triple attack. Below 20% where he starts spamming AEs, this becomes a major problem. Of course if it was a fully koenig pld with defending ring it might not be as big of an issue but even if that, it's gotta be worse than Blood Weapon which only drains HP meaning a longer fight. The damage you will probably be outputting when it SPs is probably equal to if not greater than his drain amount so when it SPs it just means a standstill instead of deadly triple attack mighty strikes that can one-shot plds. I just wanted to point this out for those who say Jormagand >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tiamat. I think Tiamat is probably harder but I haven't fought Jorm yet so I guess I dont' know for sure yet.

I have a strat that seems 100% for Vrtra but needs only 1 outside alliance maybe 2.
Just need people to believe in it >><<;
I swear to god it will work.
When Tiamat used Mighty Strike our PLDs were getting hit for about 380-399 HP. I have the entire battle parsed and the PLDs never got hit above 400 HP. On the other hand Jormungand hits our PLDs for an average of 300 HP and also drains 200-500HP depending on your VIT and defense during it's SP, Blood Weapon.
As for the surroundings, Timat has 3 EM-VT Arch Corses that spawn only at night and a maximum of 2 EM-VT elementals that spawn during certain weather conditions. I've only seen the elementals there about 25% of the time.
For Jormungand there are a total of 5 T-VT Bombs and a total of 5 VT-IT elementals during certain weather conditions. The weather is usually double ice so you'll most likely see the elementals about 90% of the time.
During both battles we had external parties to take on the mobs in the area, during the Tiamat battles the external parties were pretty much sitting around picking their noses. In the Jormungand battle there were having some difficulties and had a few deaths.
Now that I've fought all 3, I'll rephrase my last statement to:
Vrtra>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jormungand>>>Tiamat
Stronger--------------------------------------Weaker

SS of my log file (in HTML format) created by the Japanese Parser FFRep & FFReplo. This is what kinda damage our PLD in full Koenig was getting from Tiamat during it's SP, Mighty Strike.

Bombs do spawn where Tiamat is aswell. Granted they're only T but when they spawn at night with 3 corse and 2 eles all at the same time it can be fairly difficult ;)
I believe our plds only got hit 300~400 or so by Tiamat in allmost full koeing, one missing body one missing boots.

I examined the Jormungand fighting area a few times and it looks like you can definately fight him in a pretty clean area, similar to Tiamat's as you may encounter a few battles. The area around Tiamat didn't seem to be that bad but it wasn't always so easy, sometimes the other alliance didn't pull popping wind elementals off right away and aeroga3 on the tanks kinda sucks. Wind elementals were out all the time but only like 2 of them could possibly come over to the fight scene and sometimes they didn't. Same with the Corses, three pop but only two can come over into aggro range and most of the time its usually just one you gotta pull. Couple bombs but I believe they're not VT.
I was in the outside alliance for like 10 minutes and I didn't even do anything, just sat around, healed a bit. Triple attacking on mighty strikes was pretty rough at around the end of the fight, since even if our PLD had full HP he couldn't survive that. He seemed to hit stronger and stronger as the fight progressed. I can't really speak about Jormungand until we give it a go later this week. But Tiamat was defiantely a pretty fun fight when he was going crazy and I'm hoping the same from Jorm.

It was hitting Lax for 55X at times when it was under 20% because it starts hitting for alot more. It's like Genbu when it starts hitting for a shitload more near the end and thats what this guy was doing. I remember Lax going in there and getting 1 shotted by a mighty strikes triple attack. The damage it would do to me with 23 vit add and 26% damage reduce with 532 defense was well....look:
http://webspace.utexas.edu/eldamns/FFXISS/Ridiculous.JPG
Before 20% it never hit me for more than 500 on mighty strikes, but below there it decided to tear ass. Thats why I say the fight on Tiamat doesn't really start til 20%. Of course full koenig could change that alot. Does Blood Weapon do drain damage in addition or does it just regain that HP?

Or maybe a ninja.. high evasion, utsusemi & the mobs only spawn during the night (+25% movement speed). A rng would be better off doing damage to Tiamat than kiting the adds.
Sounds like bullshit :\
