So, in this thread, people will be posting notorious players from their servers and talking about why they're notorious and what not. It should be a laugh.
Try not to list the more generic gilfarmers tho... simply because they're too many of them.
Titan server:
Exdeth; Taru using JP client; rumors about him is he's an american (US or canada) importer (although he talks in broken english and uses JP as his primary language), brother to a lesser notorious figure which has since left (the player rather than the character).
What we do know is he's notorious for been a BST PKer. Basically your stereotypical griefer, he MPKs for fun. Seems like he targets NA more, but there's been reports of him PKing JP groups and players as well.
He's a celebrity tyrant on Titan, and despite what should be hundreds, if not thousands of reports to GMs against him, still alive and doing quite well.
Tigereye; gilbuyer and a DRK with the wrong wrong sub (DRK/RDM). Generally mocked, although I haven't heard specific incidents and cases about him. Generally notable because he's decked out... but is in essence a noob player.
Tigereye from another server remarks in his sig; "I swear I'm not Tigereye from titan! Why oh why did I have to pick this name? ; ;".

I'd list some on Bahamut but they're probably pretty much all going to Remora. :X

I don't think she is necesarily famous, but she is definitely notorious.
A SMN/WHM Tarutaru named Lifeangel, I partied with her in Valkurm when I was leveling up my Ninja sub, worst SMN ever. She would scream "IM GOING TO PULL" and then would run off, so I would just sit there even though pulling was my job. She almost got us killed 4 times for getting aggroed or bringing back too many monsters.
After I left that PT I never though I would see her again, wrong! After a two month hiaetous(sp?) I was leveling up THF in the crawlers nest, I got invited to a PT with her in it. I thought "Maybe she has learned" I get there and the first thing she says is "IM PULLING" runs off and gets a monster, I was still optomistic until she whips out carbuncle and is using him to melee while she beats on the monster with her toothpick.....
Never again.

Haha... all I know... I was in a party once with some stranger telling me "You are quite notorious, mr BRP". Talk about an ego boost lol :P. Either way... people of Midgardsormr should only hate me for my constant flame war with Ibanez, incredible amount of shouting, and/or slightly offensive bazaar/search messages. I heard that "BRP" has stolen, trained, and flamed up entire LSes... wow...? Lol, well maybe this has gone away because I havnt heard anything like that for 1-2 months... then again I havn't picked up a single exp party in that time ;D.
Oh... Ibanez is notorious. Outside the fact he stole a Dark Staff... he was in a couple of friends parties... a couple times and to simplify it:
-Complains A LOT.
-Yells to pull. I mean like, "I'll f*cking kill you!" kind of yelling.
-Ugh...
-He is Ibanez.
-Don't let him borrow ANYTHING just for a second.
-He is Ibanez.
-He steals stuff.
-Ugh...
-Ugh...
-He is Ibanez.
-Ugh...
thats all for now

No offense, but saying someone has the "wrong sub" is just well...wrong.
Granted its not optimal, and I wouldn't invite a drk/rdm over a drk/war because I enjoy the benefits a drk/war brings to a pt over a drk/rdm that doesn't mean his sub is "WRONG"...
Glad that mpk'er isn't on my server ^^

No. it's the wrong sub. it's like a Pld/drk.
Just because it's feasible to hook a trailer to a sports car doesn't mean it should be done.

Stephen (not sure if he worldshifted or not) is pretty famous on Midgardsormr mainly from his days in the beta. I think he was one of the first non import NA players to hit 75, and definately the first non import NA to hit 75 with BST.
Anyway from back in the NA beta days:
He was pretty much the only person to get BST leveled very high at all so most people didn't know jack about the job - period. (Yes people don't know crap about BST now but it's a lot more then in the beta)
One day he charmed Kracken and was running around the tower with him. People were freaking out and called a GM. In the beta the wait time was almost 0 if a ton of people called a GM in one area.
Anway the GM shows up and immediately pulls Stephen out of Qufim and into jail. This sets the mob free, and it leaves piles of dead bodies as far as the eye can see.

Hey! I used to tow a boat with a Chevy Cavalier! It can be done. ;)
I don't know anyone notorious yet, but I have to agree that while some subs just aren't optimal, to each his own. I'd try not to hold it against him. After all, it may do what he wants it to do. As long as he's having fun. Nit picking over the perfect combos leads to the game ceasing to be fun for far too many people.

I was there... the Kraken... the bodies... the horror...
Thankfully I was near the entrance of the tower and just zoned for a bit.
But I heard the story a little different. I heard he just let the Kraken loose.

Hmm, on Fairy the only one that stands out I heard is Spadge. Heard one incident were he stole Leaping Boots from the party he got to join him for the hunt. After that I asked people as I joined their party if anyone heard of Spadge about everyone of the parties I did that in at least 1 knew him and had some horror story of him forming a party with them just to take a good NM or BCNM drop and then ditches the party.
My count when I finished asking was:
Leaping Boots - 8
Emperor's Hairpin - 12
Monster Signia - 2
Peacock Charm - 1
Erase - 4
Utsusemi: Ni - 1
Phalanx - 2
Seems like he found a ton of suckers to rip off on Fairy.
Voila!

Boozer on Seraph...
Had his LS give him a bunch of money so he could buy an expensive rare item off the AH, then jack the price up and try to sell it back. He never sold the item, and nobody saw their money again. He's still around though for some reason.

Purraj :: Mithra :: Rdm/War :: Fenrir
Party was planning on doing spiders in Boyandha Tree, the first words he says after being invited are, "I'm tanking or I leave the party!"
We all laugh because we think he's joking then he goes on to say, "I have 400 Def, Vit 73, and an Earth Staff. I want to experiment with tanking."
Then, he says something to me along the lines of, "You wouldn't be able to get Hate off me in a million years" to which I responded along the lines of it wasn't Hate I was concerned about it was the fact his blatant stupidity might rub off on me.
How do these idiots make it past the Dunes?

Wow so basically people were scared that the Kraken was his pet yet it was doing no harm? I can't see the GM taking him to jail for that. The ironic thing is if the former is true, he wasn't a problem until after the GM did a bit more than "look into the issue."

Took the words outta my mouth. How do you get put into jail for basically doing something thats part of your job? My roomate got bored one night and charmed the kraken and was running around all of qufim killing stuff with it. Hardly anyone said a word except for the odd tell laughing about it or thinking it was cool. I guess I fail to see how this is a problem. (Until he got inexplicably put into jail *dont know how that was against the ToS* and the ensuing massacre that is)

I guess I'll explain. It's not a problem at all, the problem was the GM and the people who sent GM calls. He stated that it was during beta, and that almost no one knew anything about BST. The people who placed GM calls most likely warned of someone exploiting some kind of bug, and the GM responded by throwing them in jail, unknowingly causing kraken to be uncharmed and killing everyone there.
GMs aren't renown for their knowledge of FFXI game mechanics.

I suppose that's why they stopped actually doing things in response to GM calls. :p

Youyu + mamario on midgard.
Formed a HNM Ls recently that likes to MPK everyone. Youyu has also been mpking anyone and everyone he can plus stealing HNMs whenever possible.
Alive and ticking, GMs don't do shit about him or his crew.

In the beta GMs responded almost immediately and often would pull someone into jail to ask about what was going on. This is way different in the retail mainly because of the high amount of calls they get.

It was funny I parties with Stephen from 12-15 as a WHM in Shakrimi Maze in Beta, and the next time I saw him (he was leveling BLM at the time) he was a level 35 BST ><
I was still a level 23 WHM at the point.. no advanced jobs... nothing. When I was about to hit 30 he was already leveling NIN (which for those of you who rememebr you had to have a job at 40 I believe to open up rise of Zilaart jobs)
He levels like mad... I am pretty sure he exists on 2 hours of sleep and has no jobs/friends/family/life etc. the guy is crazy, but hes awsome. If you ever see this, Cheers man!!

LMFAO about the Kraken thing.
When my friend first played, he was on Ifrit. His name was Abelhan. He had been leveling his RDM/MNK and decided he was going to go for BST. The first time he went after Kraken, he didn't have the right equiptment.
About halfway through he was like "... shit." and decided to run. So here he is, running like hell, with the Kraken following him like some obscene UFO. And the people watching were like "LMAO- ... please PLEASE don't zone!!!"
And without any other choice... he DID.
After a minute, he turns around and goes back in out of morbid curiosity...
Bodies. Everywhere.
