hey everyone, currently I'm a lvl 49 thf/nin hume and nin is underlvled at 23. I currently have:
2 bone+1/caveley's/and Marauder's Knives
emperor's hairpin
spike necklace
1 Genin Earring
1 Drone Earring
Brigandine +1
RSE gloves (Hume Male)
2 Deft Rings
Nomad's Mantle +1
MRC belt,
Noct Brais +1
Leaping Boots.
DEX +26 and AGI +18 (if I remember correctly)
Question is, I have about 1 million gil to spend and was wondering what do you think is the best combination for damage output w/ the rest of my gear (SATA and per hit). I was told by a lvl 55 thf that the Sniper rings which added +acc does in fact affect the SATA dmg since +2 DEX = 1 ACC. On the other hand the Corsair's Knives (can get 2 and some leftover change for the price of one Sniper's Ring) add +10 attack to each one. I was experimenting on some exorays w/ the combination of x2 bones+1's vs Marauders/Caveley's. the SATA dmg seemed about the same, but the dmg output per hit favored the Bones. Should I:
A) Keep the Bones+1's/AF/Caveley's and add the Sniper Rings
B) Buy x2 Corsair's Knives (when I hit lvl 50) and not change the rest of my gear
C) Should I just farm for a few more weeks, buy 2X Corsair's and 2x Sniper Rings? I know the dmg per hit will be higher, and I'll hit more often for some TP, but will I notice some + dmg for SATA + Viperbite?
My current SATA dmg ranges from 450-650 fighting Beetles, Anticans, and Bats. I just want to have all the BEST equip at all times that will favor my SATA dmg and amount per melee hit. Any advice? Thank you.

The Snipers wont add damage to your SA/TA... that guys an idiot.
I didnt even bother with the Corsair's knife, but then again, i'm Elvaan and have more STR than the otehr races. I got a Lust dagger and off-handed my AF knife. Though Corsair's arent a BAD choice, i just didnt think it was nessecary for an Elv :P
The next thing ill have to say, and you knew it was coming, is just lvl your sub to last you til 55, in other words, lv 27 NIN.
Now if you ahve any high lvl friends, or a whole bunch of friends willing to help, i'd say goa fter a Hornetneedle to off-hand. Ive been going to Temple Ugg with my 75 SMN friend for a periods of short time, no drop to pop the NM yet >< You have to kill Wespes for an ex item (i dont remember name) then you trade it to a ??? in the same room as teh DRG AF ??? and Death From Above pops. Kill it and claim your dagger.
My advice is get a Lust dagger and snipers, cause you'll want teh snipers for when you get Dancing Edge, i found out the hard way and have to farm now ><

thanks for the advice, yeah I REALLY need to level the nin...kinda embarrassing walking around almost 2 lvls under. I'll look into that lust dagger and hopefully get some help for the horneedle too. One last question though, how the the ACC affect DE?Thanks again

Dancing Edge is a 5-hit WS, so you want Acc to actually HTI those 5 hits. So far, the most ive done is 1109 damage on DE... but that was on EP >< on IT i dont do over 800...
When you fight cockatrice and raptors, which have high evasion, you're gonig to want acc to get TP and hit those DE shots.

Yeah, ACC really helps with dancing edge. Sometimes my DE does only 400 damage, with full hits I can do 800-900 on IT.
I don't think you should buy two corsairs. One is excellent in your main hand because of the high damage, but since your off-hand has a much smaller role in your damage output, I would put something else there. Bone Knife +1 is quite fast and has great bonuses, which makes it a great left hand dagger.

I was getting into the same delimma myself.
I'm curious of how much dex you drop when you start reaching the 60+ lvls as thf. I've currently got the same gear setup as the thread starter minus the nomad mantle +1(just the regular).
What is your +dex stat at your current lvls?
thanks
Edit: I was also just thinking about going Dual Bone knife+1's and adding a ryl knights belt at 50 to offset the dex loss.
Thoughts on this as well?

Couple of suggestions I can make here - though I won't limit it to your 1 million gil budget, you can decide from the suggestions what to spend money on or not based on prices on your server:
- Corsair's Knife and Bone Knife +1 - as suggested earlier Corsair's has a nice base damage for higher base SATA, and the Bone Knife +1 just has great stats to compliment the rest of your gear.
- Emperor's Hairpin looks fine as is
- Spike Necklace for SATA - if you have acc problems (you can tell based on the other melee in your PT's, if they usually get 100% TP a lot faster than you, then you need to pump up acc more) you can purchase Spectacles or a Peacock Charm and swap out during SATA.
- Earrings are fine for SATA. Might want to swap in Beetle +1's and then later Fang Earrings for regular melee hits.
- Brig +1 is just fine until 59
- RSE gloves for you looks fine, switch to AF Gloves when you get them
- For rings, you can get Sniper rings and swap them out right before SATA - again if you have an accuracy issue
- Back looks fine
- Mrc Capt Belt -> Royal Knight's Belt and swap out Life belt for regular hits
- Have no opinion on Noct gear, as I have never used it. Before Noct's came out, I was using the Republic Subligar and liked the added attack it gave. Though some people wouldn't go 10 feet near subligars...
- Leaping Boots -> Winged Boots (though this is completely optional)
Hope that helps ;)

I prefer RSE over AF. +3 dex, +3 str and -1 agi seems to be better than just +3 dex. AF looks much better though, which is why I changed the RSE graphics to look like AF. ;)

Currently 54 and I have a gear question. Know for main hand I always go for the powerful damge output dagger to obviously make SATA as best as possible. I use bone knife+1 in the off hand for the bonuses, mainly the +5 acc. When do most thfs ditch this dagger in offhand by, or when does this dagger start to hit for 0?

thank you everyone for replying (I haven't checked back since the first day I posted this) and was suprised.
Well, as of today I got all the items for Genkai 1 last night, but am still at lvl 49 (4k tnl).
Since then I have bought:
2 Corsair's (but might trade in one to keep my bone+1 in the off hand) and Lust Dagger (I'll try this out in off-hand as well)
2 Beetle earrings +1 (will swap for Genin and Drone Earrings before SATA)
Life Belt (gonna swap too once I buy an RK belt when there is available in AH)
2 Sniper rings and interchange w/ my 2 Deft Rings
and now...I'm officially broke lol and starting all over again to get a peacock charm (I CANNOT stand camping for this lol)
That's my current equip situation, I need to hit 50 to try the combination of daggers and RK belt out (static meeting soon for that). Thanks again everyone for the input you have shared, helped out a TON.
