Rusty cap gets nerfed!

I hope this ends the gil seller/botter occupation of Rabao. :D

^_^; I'm so glad I've already leveled my smithing.

It does kinda suck that I can't scrape together some quick gil this way though :\

O well, I'll take one for the economy. b^_^

Just think how many Commods and Rogue Rigs will be up for sale ^_^

I ditched my stuff a week ago, Rusties weren't too profitable for my fishing level.

Plus I didn't have the patience to synth them all (Moats are teh fun^^).

Hehehheheeeeeeeeeeeeee.....

once again S.E FUCKS over the players...

LOL. So funny. The only people this really hurts are botters who were racking up money while they slept etc. Those actually sitting there hitting the keys could be making more money farming and crafting. Get off your bums and go work like the rest of us. Take your Smithing 34 into a mine and start doing something worthwhile with it. :P

Also, I hereby propose the Revitalize Rabao NOW! Project, since it's destined to become a ghost town once all the botters wake up and find themselves screwed. :P

Actually Villainelle, you're understating your case. The fact that it helps fishbotters further hose legitimate fishers is bad enough, but the effects on the global economy are even worse:

Fish rusty cap, make padded cap, sell to NPC doesn't add anything useful to the economy; it only adds gil, further fueling the already out-of-control price inflation on most servers.

At least when fishbots make carp, it helps someone get a Lu Shang, eventually. Caps were just useless and an inflationary pressure. Fishing up caps deserved to be nerfed to hell. 3 /cheers for SE.

Ah, the tormented screams of rusty cap fishers whining is music to my ears.

some hostility coming from botters...

That was clearly an exploit of a loophole in the system, and it's exploited most heavily by gil sellers and botters. SE tried to close the loop hole once, and people got around it, and I'm glad SE finally closed the loop hole for good this time. Nobody should be expecting such an obvious exploit to last for ever. If you benefited for a while, then just be glad you did. There is no reason to cry for a rightly deserved fix.

Go fish.... actual fish for a change.

People that bot shot be deleted/banned, 100% no questions no b.s.i am upset that it took se this long to figure this out when all you gota do is goto robao and see the line of bots.

all SE is doing right now is making a small change so they can focus on cop but make no mistake .... they will deal with this.

If you bot, your hurting the game because your selfesh and lazy. if you sell to ige, idk u just need to die. Problem comes from all these boters is A)influx of gill causes the value of gill to go down which causes items to go up in price, B)the losers that bot tend to sink there corrupt gill into trade skills which in turn hurts all the other legit crafters. This idea of how i used my boted cash to fund my smithing makes me sick, /vomit.

Can anoyone honestly say that they DIDN'T see this coming? Back months ago when SE tried to 'fix' the cap problem, it wasn't nearly as abused as it has been recently. I never saw bots in Rabao fishing for rusty caps to sell to NPC then. All SE did was call attention to the caps and got people interested in fishing up stuff to sell to NPC's and then someone figured out the bit about repairing them, voila. I wonder what the new gimmick will be....clamming perhaps!? :D

not coming back to the LS, so you guys can stop sending me tells.

Don't feel like getting everyone's items but never a single thing ever for myself. Feel too much like a tool. I heard Grandma and Apexx left also. I still talk to Ashera, Aiden and Gutz though, since they are leveling crafts with me in bastok. Maury and Madrush are good people, but NoThx as a whole just isn't anything like the original Miracle.

I pretty much made up my mind to sell my character when WOW comes out.

Wow... 400K to get to 25 smithing ^_^;....

That musta been a PL-- I couldn't have possibly spent more than 50K.

Anyway, I feel somewhat for the people that can't craft the caps just to raise smithing, because those are otherwise pretty tough levels, but as for the fishers (botters), it thrills the hell outta me to see justice done.

At least on my server, padded caps were always profitable just to buy from AH, synth and sell to the guild. I could make 700 gil off of every cap, which ain't great, especially with limited supplies, but if you think about how quick and easy it was to make cash w/o having to run around farming, hoping for drops or other forms of luck, and then having to pawn your stuff to players, it's pretty easy money at any level if you horde the supplies and do it all at once. I never fully abused it other than skilling up smithing >:/ but it doesn't sadden me to see it get fixed.

Maybe people are getting off at the fact that S-E actually did something to circumvent one specific way people (and bots) could make easy money. I see the misfortune for the other people when item prices keep getting higher, but they can't make money while sleeping like some others to afford stuff.

i say 75% of my gil came from farming. the other 25% came from moat carps an padded caps. so now really there is little else to make money at. sure i can still fish up moats an other fish. but that still doesnt bring in the gil.. i can work on crafting, but really that takes big time gil, an patience.. an really you arent looking at decent gains in that til the higher lvls.

people say that there was never money being put back into the economy. but then again its been along time since i sold much of what i farm to the a.h. still alot of items venders still pay more for, then what you can get on the a.h.

just because S.E nerfed padded caps. doent mean they effected gil sellers, or botters.. they just made farming grounds just a little bit more crowded.

Yes I'm upset about the it also. I was working hard all night to get my smithing to 34 and fishing to at least 25, but people who cheats ruins it for others.

ugh, thanks to this there are now lots of fish bots in the cities. They were lining the docks in windy last night. I guess even though i just got my legitimate fishing skill to 10, i'll have to go find something else to do. I bet the price of moat carps is going to go through the floor now. Off to crafting, maybe i can get some cool shades :(

Icemage
09-15-2004, 08:21 AM
Don't bet on the price of moat carp dropping. Sporadic reports coming in that moat carp catch rates in Rabao, Windurst, and San d'Oria are extremely low after the update. My guess is that this is a pre-emptive tactic on S-E's part in response to what the cheaters would do after they realized that Rabao (in its entirety), East Sarutabaruta, West Sarutabaruta, and South Gustaberg were now no-man's land for them.

Moat carp prices won't fall through the floor, the demand is high enough that everyone putting MC on the AH for the list price will get their carp sold quickly. Often I'll put mine up and by the time I'm done selling the 7th stack the other 6 will have sold. As for bite rates, I've been fishing in Windy for 2 weeks now (I'm broke) and the only bite rate changes I've seen are the moon phase changes. This whole 'bite rate nerf' is probably just a stroke of bad luck, I mean the patch has only been around for what, 2 days?

Edit: What's sad are the brazen botters in Port Windurst. I mean, come on...when everytime I run to the guild I see the same 6 tarutarus all lined up in the same order with very similar 4-letter names, I can't help but think it's just one or two people with a lot of $$ and cojones.

The sad thing is people dont realize there are Moat Carp in over a dozen zones outside of towns.

Yes, this was a good nerf. I just started fishing for moat carp myself, and I'd forgotten that the bite rate was lower in towns. It didn't seem very profitable to fish for 2 hours to get 1 measely stack of carp. I'll move to an outside zone and see if it improves.

The point of this is that botters can't make gil in the outside zones anymore, because they will catch monsters anywhere they try, and end up dead sooner or later if they aren't there to deal with the mobs. The legit fishermen can use these zones without much of a change. So the botters are stuck with the shitty drop rates in towns on carp, and the legit fishers can catch whatever they want. Rogue Rig for Shall Shells? (Yes Please).

I'm almost halfway to my Haubergeron already, and all I had to do was... sell off every other piece of my level 60 thief gear :(

Stacks and clusters of light crystals went from 10k+ to 5k in just a few days. Sounds like more good news for real fisherman.
