Ok guys..here's the thing, im a 42mnk/21 war but my war is at lvl 30 as of now. I always did like war and was thinking about going back to bring war/mnk all the way up..two questions for anyone out there:

first off...anything wrong with war/mnk the whole way or just war/mnk till like lvl 60-65 and then do war/sam?

second: like mnk has it's uber expenses around the 40's (where im at now) with kote, jujitsu gi and brown belt as well as fuma kayan etc and pld needs it's gluttony at lvl 57, what's the big expenses for war and when do they occur?

please any depth on this issue would be appreciated since it would strongly help my decision making on what to do from this point on...

im still thinking a 75war/37mnk would hit HARD as hell and take some nice hits...heh.

Gear isn't very expensive, most good pieces only run a couple hundred K. And by the time you're 60, you're set of tanking gear is free. The "big" piece comes with Haubergeon, which is currently over 2 mil on Pandemonium.

Another problem is all the weapons late game. Berserker Axe, Juggernaught, Woodvilles Axe, Tabazin*2 for tanking....9 mil in weapons alone. Weapons before that are cheap though.

Sniper's Rings at 40 if you like, 400kish each, server dependent

Sarashi if you sub NIN and feel like it, 300k+

RK set and associated pieces at 55, around 400k+ total

Haubergeon at 59, around 2 mil on most servers (wish I dealt with this a month ago when it was 1.2 mil...sigh)

On the bright side, weapons tend to be cheap or free for most of the game, until Jugg/Tabarzin 70+. Razor, Eisentaenzer, Schwarz, Tungi, Francisca, Acha, Pendragon, Tulia axes.

Is the Tungi hard to get? I was thinking about grabbing a WAR/NIN buddy and trying to get it. What level party for the NM?

wow...heh. Where are u guys getting this kind of gil from? I and TONS of others I'm talking to are stumped. When I ask people where they're making that kind of money they say they did it mining and only took a few days...htf is that possible?!...

any advice would be great cause this money issue is beginning to be enough...

i mean maybe on a good night i can come up with 10k or so...but millions and millions of gil in gear?

how?

Tungi is fine for like, party of 60s, or less with a 65-70 thrown in there. If you have a NIN or a 74+ blinker then he's too easy. Grab four or five friends or a blinking friend. Could have everyone grab a tag and do the fight for all - even if you don't need the axe he drops rare ores too.

And the inherent problem with talking about making gil is that when everyone starts doing something that's good...it stops being good. So good luck getting people to talk. There is only one get-rich-quick scheme in the game and it's getting lucky on NMs. Everything else requires varying degress of work. It's no secret that Ifrit's is good mining and that's how I made most of my money. Just expect to die. XD Asking people about HOW they mine or garden or camp NMs tends to be the best way to get zero responses though, heh.

Bite the bullet and try growing saplings. Plus your regular farming on the side while you wait.

(porcilain pot(doesnt have to, but it yields more than some) + tree cuttings = saplings. Takes 2 weeks to grow. Should run 90-100k, server dependant.)

Cuttings are under the Misc. section in AH. 3-4k server dependant..

Basically, you have to be consistant and persistant with your methods. Dont stop or give in to discouragement. It's going to take awhile but you'll make money.

I think I've read enough here, to try out another new job.

Uroboros brings up a really good point.

I wish people would stop asking me how I make my gil, if I tell everyone how I make my gil, then in turn, no one will make any gil because everyone will be doing it.

Don't ask people how THEY make gil, ask them if they know some good ways to make gil instead because I don't tell people.

The only thing I've ever told people is to camp Stroper Chimes with a TH2 partner, I made a mil that way, so I did make some that way.
