I lvled MNK to 45 then decided to be a Ranger, I was told by my LS that I need Leaping Boots and emperro's hairpin, what is your advice? I can sell something and have enough for leaping Boots and that is it, I really need your opinion on the subject.
i am really stumped on what to do now, I am at a loss of what job to play atm. Weather it's RNG, or whatever I am stumped.
Please help me out.

hairpin and boots are a luxury that you don't need. there's a lot of other things in those slots that can be substitutes.

ebow is EH! Though I want one too. :D What are they now? 5 mil or something? I don't even want to check ; ; Sniper's are almost up to 700k! >.<! I'm thinking about selling my hairpin and boots, that's like 1 million right there that can fund my crafting for a LONG time. Though I think I'll wait for my AF stuff so I have something to put in those slots that doesn't look newbish >.>

can you tell me one more thing. I heard that Mithra RNGs can get away with doing RNG/WAR and RNG/THF is that true aswell?

You can never have enough +ra accuracy, at least on xp monsters :)
No, rng/thf will not work well. As a rng u'll want agi, subbing thf only gives u dex bonus but not much agi I believe. For rng/war, there's been a huge debate of /war vs /nin...I don't wanna start another flame here but I personally think /nin is way better especially you're the puller (which a rng should always be the puller imo). Plus, with dual-wield u get to equip another +ra accuracy dagger which is a big bonus.

Any race can go RNG/WAR or RNG/NIN. RNG/THF is useless except for farming. It gives you absolutely no benefits other than MAYBE some extra AGI over WAR or NIN sub... but subjobs are never really worth it for the stats only for the job abilities or traits it gives you. RNG/SAM is really the only other "acceptable" combination.

people do rng/thf to be different, nothing wrong with ganking a monster for some items :3. Any who yeah last sold ebow on our server Timo, Power was 4.9m by Xanatos :P hes my buddy :P what a rich bastard X_X i sold hairpin and boots at its peak timo :) 600k for hairpin was damn sweet

Yeah I sold both of mine last night. Didn't hit the peak, unfortunately, but I got a good 900k from it (maybe more, not sure since I spent a lot of money that night on crafting. I'll check later :P). But atleast now I can fuel my crafting and get goldsmithing from 1 to 2! :D!

I disagree. /war is an extremely viable RNG subjob, the loss of ~10 rng acc is barely noticeable when you already have 40+, and the extra damage from berserk makes up for whatever slight reduction in hit rate.
It all boils down to [ersonal preference, really, both subjobs have their own pros and cons and neither is clear-cut superior over the other.

you dont only loes +10 r acc, u also lose utsusemi which can and will save your life in some moments.

Read properly plz, I was talking about the rng accuracy aspect only (as apparent from the portion of text that I quoted).

Please help... Ive been preparing to get NIN like forever to sub for my RNG(now 30). Then the news of the nerf. Would it be even beneficial to get ninja to 37 and sub it? or just stay with RNG/WAR?

its always helpful to have it subbed. Nerf or not, utsusemi will still be useful in blocking hits, whether it be a normal attack or a sickle slash.
get both, they're both still useful subs. War for exp, nin for extra safety.

At low-mid levels, I think /NIN generally is more useful.
1) You don't have much other +Rng ACC gear for other slots.
2) Your tanks either don't have much skill at the time, or don't have enough magic and abilities to keep hate constantly. Utsu wins here.
At higher levels I absolutely love RNG/WAR.
As a PLD with above average equipment and lots of +enmity, I am confident in my hate keeping skills. But if I am in a party with a THF or DRK/THF, we need a melee who can consistently turn the monster for skillchain purposes (so the THF or /THF can SATA Spinning Slash on me).
Since level 70, I've been with WAR/THF, WAR/SAM, WAR/NIN, RNG/NIN, RNG/WAR, DRG/WAR as the trick partner for THF or DRK/THF in PT. Out of all of them, only the RNG/WAR could pull hate from me during skillchain. No one else came moderately close. Hell, the WAR/NIN got frustrated that he couldn't pull hate with Voke+Warcry+Decimation so we had to resort having the DRK/THF just tricking on him... and even then I kept hate most of the time.
Only RNG/WAR has the DoT, damage burst for sc starter, AND JA aggro spikes to consistently pull hate from a good PLD.
And yes, for the other jobs, I turn away from the mob for a good 10 seconds or so to lose aggro and let the trick partner build more aggro before skillchain, and even then much of the time it doesn't work. Yes, I agree it's the tank's job to understand how to manage hate, and not horde it like a scrooge... but then again, a PLD's advantage over NIN is that I can gain much much more enmity. So if they want someone who gets less aggro, they should just use a NIN tank... A PT works best when it plays to the configuration's strengths.
So out of the several PT's i was in since lv 70, I've always been frustrated that I had to resort to holding back, and the only one who could pull aggro off me was Poweryoga (73 at the time, I was 72) as RNG/WAR. Of course he got pissed when I landed a 770 damage Spirits Within at start of battles so he couldn't gain aggro no matter what... :spin:
However, at 74 I think it changes again... RNG/NIN rules if you have more than one RNG in PT. 3 RNG/NIN, a tank, and some healing/support is probably best... the tank will only keep hate for the first 1/3-1/2 of the battle, then the RNG/NIN's will be tanking back and forth spamming sidewinders and slugshots... utsu:ni and ichi will make sure they survive.
So my suggestion..
1-27 : sub doesn't matter, /WAR works fine for slightly higher STR, and emergency provokes (our defense isn't that much lower than other jobs yet)
28-54 : /NIN in my opinion, just because tanks aren't the best yet. If you know your tank is very skilled, go WAR so you can do more damage when pulling aggro off for the THF's Viper/Dancing.
55-73 : /WAR ... your sidewinders will be doing 2-300 more damage than a RNG/NINs, and with a BRD for prelude (or with optimal equipment) you shouldn't be missing that much more than a /NIN anyway. Yes, you are missing utsu and 10-11 Racc, but at this point I believe it's worth the higher damage you deal. Plus your tanks start getting AF and better equipment, and you're out of the noob levels, so they should be able to hold hate effectively until skillchain purposes. However, if there is no THF or DRK/THF in PT, you may want to consider /NIN so you can still spam shots and perhaps solo Sidewinders and give the tank a bit of leeway before he gets hate back or Covers. Also when you are 65-66+ and using Heavy Shot/Arching Arrow, these WS aren't nearly as inaccurate as Sidewinder/Slugshot so you won't need so much extra +Racc...
74-75 : /NIN if there are more than 1 RNG or if you're soloing.. utsu: ni is just so sexy. If you're the only RNG and you're sc'ing with a /THF, /WAR.
And the utsu nerf won't really affect RNG/NIN as much as you think. Utsu was more for blocking damage when you get aggro (single target attacks and skills), not for blocking AE skills. If the monster uses an AE that erases utsu, just recast.
Anyway I agree with yoga, get both... even tho NIN is pretty boring and tedious to level without utsu: ni. Yoga smells bad.

Okay thanks you two for the insights! imac2much thats a hell of an answer.... really helpful. I decided to still get my NIN this weekend. It's just dissapointing to hear about the nerf after weeks of preparations... I mined for my zinc ores... fished for my rusties... and all (limited playing hours). But with your answers i think its really worth it to sub NIN with my level 30 RNG....

I think the answer is both are useful in different party configs.
You should have war and nin to 37.
Sorry
