DEF for THF?

hey guys,

Just wondering how important is DEF for a thief? it doesnt seem like it's all that important becasue we hardly get hit. maybe an occasional SA smack or 2 but if the tank is good it should never be more then 2 hits...


What do you guys think? should i always sacrifice DEF for stats?

Some mages have the same defense as me. Never buy anything for the defense.

In the 40's and low-50's the blackmage in the party had more def than me.

Accuracy > Dex > Agi > Attack = Str > Evasion > Hitpoints > Def. Something like that.

AS a thief you don't focus on defense period. Even when farming you won't fall back on your defense. By lvl 50 and evasion bonus 3, you depend on your evasion to not take damage for emergencies/farming.

I have scentless armlets or whatever for hands(5 evasion) and a survival belt(5 evasion), and my hairpin(10 evasion). That's 25 evasion plus lots of agi. But I'd never use the evasion+gear in a party since in experience parties it's all about your damage, especially the SATA. Minus the hairpin of course, with the hefty 3 agi and dex, haven't took that thing off since I got it months ago.

For farming and emergencies it's good, When you get a link/add but it's only even-VT, you can basiclly throw on the evasion stuff and tank one if you got enough evasion.

All in all it's not a bad idea to carry extra equipment with you for evasion, but you better not be skipping out dex,agi,attk,str, or acc for it.

If being naked would add more dex, thfs wouldn't wear armor.

man,only thing DEF. dont matter.....I know cus i used teh be a lvl 42thf/21nin Thf's dont worry bout their DEF. Cus they too fast to even be hit am i right?

DEF doesn't matter. Besides, even if you wanted it for pulling, our base defense is *so* low that even the best defense we could buy wouldn't protect us from the heavy blows while pulling. Ignore defense boosts as thf. If you're solo, go for +evasion. In exp group, go for +acc, +dex, +att, +agi, +str
