Yeah I'm a pld and since I still have my centurion armor I wanted to level my warrior from 30 to 37 so I could never bother with it again well any way I wanted to know is it ok if I used a GS with warrior since I already have that skilled up or should I just start skilling up GA some how

Anytime I raise a lower level job and invite a WAR, first thing I ask is if they have Great Axe or Axe. If they don't, I ask their reason

99% of the time, that reason won't get them a PT invite from me. If I wanted a melee with Great Sword, I would invite a DRK who has a higher rating.

The main thing that sets other jobs apart is their main weapons. Warrior has a huge advantage of having two A ranked weapons. USE THEM

since warrior's damage matters, there's no denying the benefits of the Greataxe over the Greatsword. 4 points of benefit to quantify it. However, parties with a thf will love you to start distortion with a Greatsword so that's nice. And also, you're only doing it for 7 little levels so you might get away with it.

Though you should keep your GA lvled and use it with a war, I dont think people will mind if you use a GS. I party with WARs that use all kind of weapons, and I dont complain unless they suck at hate control. So just use GS and i'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

Using GS will help you make Distortion with a Thf @33+. That's useful. Any other instance, GA is better.

Using GA is mainly for Shield Breaking mobs weak to Ice. Armor Break on Bats in Garliage. If you have Thf-sub, Sneak + Sturmwind is nice.

Skilling up GA is not hard. Having both is buff, having just one alright if you're just going 37.

WAR/NIN = best thing you can do because
A) you get stealth job trait.
B) dual weilding 2 hand axes = uber damage
3) utsusemi (if you can afford it or not to lazy to do the quest  )
over all for WAR its hand axe or no axe

i've been leveling my war up to 37 for my ninja's sub.

i have tried a few different subs: mnk, thf, nin but stuck with axe and g.axe all the way.

anyway i found i do better with nin sub dual-wielding axes, the only advantage i found with using the g.axe was that i could use sturmwind, which outdamaged the other WS available, in dmg over time the dual axes seem to be superior.

since we organised a sub-job set PT i haven't really had any other wars to compare with: but i found that g.axe damage was really streaky at low levels, one sturm would be 280 and the next 80 i guess that WS has 2 hits in it or so? maybe one part missing is what was happening, axes was alot more consistent and raging axe is pretty decent.

in reply to the original poster, in my opinion the whole fun of playing a class is to use their 'best' weapon and seeing how they play. i think if you are only playing WAR with your PLD in mind you are really missing the fun :)

I'm a WAR30/THF15, and I am leveling warrior (not just until 37, but all the way, until I get bored). In 1 day of playing, I've gone from skill 0 to 80 in Great Axe, and skill 40-78 in Axe. Just ask your linkshell if anyone wants to skill up, and go to first Tahrongi Canyon, then Buburmiu Peninsula, then Qufim. Then party. The damage you'll deal with it is FAR superior to Great Sword.
