I have not seen many Beast Tamer topics around here. So I decided to start one. Are they not talked about because they arn't that good of a job? I was wondering if they are useful to PTs or can they solo?

Whats a good sub for a beast tamer anyways? I know almost nothing about the job, only that it can make animals do its bidding? So I have some questions. How long does this charm last? Does it only affect animals such as tigers and such, or would he be able to command like a goblin. How much more damage does their _____ killer passive abilities add? Can he charm more than one animal? What weapons can they use? And finally, are they good or just an oddball job?

I am planning on becomming a Beast Tamer, and would also like to hear some clear answers about this class.

As far as weapons go, BST are best with one handed axes.

What i can say for sure is that good beast tamer subs include :
Warrior: extra STR + taunt
Theif :EVD and cash always comes in handy
White Mage: mainly to get you into parties
Paladin: extra defence + minor whie magic, best CHR in a tanking class (double advanced classes tho...)

BST are (IMO) the best Solo'ing class, but remember, even with that said, no one can solo past a certain level. plus the main point of playing online is playing with other people right?

EDIT: Heres a great thread about beast tamers, but because it on the importer boards, you won't be able to post

So from what I read from that topic, Beast Tamers receive 30% experience penalty when they use a pet and it survives the battle?

i guess so, but with a Pet a BST has twice the attack power, and can use the pet as a meat sheild. i think its fair.

Is the Beast Tamer's melee pretty good, or is it below average? And is he any use to a PT if he does not have a pet?

I am going to try to answer these questions to the best of my knowledge.

Q: Is the Beast Tamer's melee pretty good, or is it below average? And is he any use to a PT if he does not have a pet?
A: The only skill A weapon for a beasttamer is 1h axe (whereas most fighter classes will have more than 1). This, combines with the fact that a BST's main stat boost is CHR but not STR, makes BST a sub-par fighter when compared to the other classes. A good BST should make up for this with his control of his pet in battles.

Q: Beast Tamers receive 30% experience penalty when they use a pet and it survives the battle?
A: Yes (read my thread for details). :)

Q: Are they not talked about because they aren't that good of a job?
A: They are not talked about because BST is the least common job among all servers.

Q: I was wondering if they are useful to PTs or can they solo?
A: They are useful to parties, but unfortunately they are not a popular job to most parties. Beasttamer is the best soloing job out of all classes, without a doubt.

Q: How long does this charm last?
A: Depend on your level and your CHR (read my thread for details). :)

Q: Does it only affect animals such as tigers and such, or would he be able to command like a goblin?
A: Taming only affects living creatures. It does not affect undeads, demons, beastman (Orcs, Yagudos, Goblins, Quadavs), and all boss/notorious monsters.

Q: How much more damage does their _____ killer passive abilities add?
A: From what I've observed, not much. :(

Q: Can he charm more than one animal?
A: Of course not.
