Something people do unintentionally that really bugs you is a pet peeve.
My pet peeve is "I'm <Insert Race>, I <insert ability> better than you!"
That's completely false. Why do most people take this as fact? Innate Evasion, Accuracy, Defense, Attack are all Job related traits. They only things you gain with different races are a few stat points, that's all (for melee). From what I have seen, MP is definately race dependant.
Gear > *
Your race means nothing in the end. Sure in the beginning that +2 str advantage will allow you to hit for 1-2 dmg more per swing, but it is really a gear dependant stat, not a racial trait.
It almost gives me a twitch in my eye and a hump in my back everytime I hear people make those types of comments ><;
I usually ignore it, but I want to see why people listen to heresay as much as they do (this is one of the reasons I am doing my testing, I don't agree with a lot of the commonly accepted "facts").

My Pet Peeve? people who can't learn worth a damn.. when I got this game I picked on it very quickly because I did MONTHS worth of research. my friends however jumped into the game without knowing a thing and they picked it up right away.
Those that seem to look at logic and blank out mentally, just today in Garrison 5 Mannequin Feet dropped in a total of 3 Garrison runs with the same Alliance all full of simple fools.. in the end as we broke up the Alliance the winners of the Feet were talking about selling them.
My friend said to one"They go for about 50k.. rarely 100k in the AH" and one fool's reply "no you stupid idot they not in AH you have use bazzur and it take 3 day to sell" I merely fell from my chair from a splitting migraine.

My Pet Peeves:
1. leveling with impatient Noobs in the Dunes and Qufim
2. leveling with Noobs and non-Noobs who have Gimped or worthless subjobs
3. people who beg for money or items
4. teenage boys who think hitting on you is some form of socially acceptable communication
5. Non-Noobs that don't give Noobs a chance (we were all there once)
6. People who think that they know everything about your job just because they read it on the Internet.
7. People who don't believe that there is more than one way to skin a cat.
8. WHM or RDM who think charging for a Raise is an acceptable way to earn gil. Charging for a raise is a dishonorable act in my eyes.

same here, but not just impatient noobs in those areas, but anyone who is impatient. Especially when trying to make a grp at my lv.

So basically you hate everything that occurs in MMORPGs but just about every decent players writes it off as someone else will take of it, and so ends up with no one doing it?
These are common things that always happen but every or any attempts I ever made to correct them I'm shuned by other players who I thought would be on my side. My biggest peeve is the players that gripe about things but none will make an effort to stop it.

Agreed. I'm not one to angrily lash out at someone because they made a mistake as this tends to make more enemies as opposed to better players, but I do try to do something about it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Some people are smart and open-minded and willing to listen, while others are stubborn ignorant and blind. You just take it as it comes.

I know but like some people I've partied with and added to my friends list and even a few LS members. What they'll do is complain over and over about something a group of players are doing. For example a group that tries to keep other people away from a certain NM, that group will intentionally try to kill other players to get them to leave.
I offer them a chance to stop this by forming a party/alliance to go up there and for a set length of hrs offer that alliance as a free service to protect someone that wants to get that NM (Trying to enfluence a fair play in the community so that everyone gets a chance to try their luck against every NM if they wanted).
The person hunting the NM will have to hunt it alone or with whatever group that he brought, but we'd ensure that if anyone else tried to force them out threw MPK or so we'd take care of it. Of course we'd only provide this protection once per set length of days/weeks for that person/group (Also influencing the fair play) after that if they choose to stay there is their option but our service won't extend to them.
This was something that I did in a previous game and it seemed to work out fine. The players could still play as they liked but it helped reduced rude player's actions, of course I've never been able to get something like this done with any American players. Even when they moan and gripe about it and I offer them this they start going oh I don't have the time, or they'll stop eventually, or whatever excusses you'd see from a wife with an abusive husband would say to try and justify them staying in that relationship.
That's what just irritates me so much, if you are going to gripe and moan about it then you better be willing to find a way to improve it without intruding on other players fun. Only intruding on other players deliberatly ruining good/decent players fun.
I can't remember the saying exactly but it's one that holds so true at times. It's easy to be careless, it's even easier to be cruel, but it's hard and nobel to be kind. Sadly enough it seems that players go more for the easy routes.
I write this in the POV of a NIN tank.
For crying out loud people, don't freaking use Warcry whenever you feel like it >_>
That ability has quite a bit of hate associated with it. I really hate it when I'm tanking and the Warrior the THF is SATAing on does Warcry "to help the SC". It's not even that great of an Atk boost =/

What level is your NIN? At 35, it probably be a problem, but my set ninja never had a problem with it in the 40's/50's (the only time he ever lost hate was during a SC, and the mob would be dead soon anyway). Infact now, the other WAR in my set needs it at times to even rip the hate off of him so that I can SATA WS.
My nin is 43. It depends when the warrior does Warcry. If it's fairly early in the battle when the hate hasn't settled in, it's very easy to pull hate. Ask any tank and they'll tell you that hatekeeping in the beginning is rather hard.
Once the mob is at around 60% life though, hate keeping shouldn't be a problem. Still, Warcry and then getting 300+200 dmg on to you isn't exactly smart is it? I think even your NIN tank would have some difficulty with you voking and then doing a 500 R.Rush. Not only that, if I'm unlucky and getting hit because my shadows ran out, warcry might turn the enemy and the THF would fail SATA. Why risk such things?

I'd hope by the 40's a WAR knows about hate managment. ;)
Then again, that's probably hoping for too much. :(

Is the THF tricking off of the WAR? If so, you should make him trick off of you.
I'm not sure who came up with the whole "trick partner" thing, but it is my belief that THFs should trick off of the tank. THFs are there for hate management, not to put even more hate onto the damage dealers.
Then, Warcry ect. would help in more ways then one (helps turn the mob and helps SC damage).
But you are right, Warcry can be bad for hate management.

I find that I don't steal the hate when I warcry, but only after I WC+WS.
With /mnk I'd boost and WS for a lot more damage, but as /nin I only use WC to boost the WS damage. I can get Avalanche Axe to 400+ damage with WC and Berserk, and then you won't be able to get hate off me.
Lucky for me I tank often.

-Hmm. I hate people who invite me to tank without a THF when there's a BLM or RNG in the group. Or to tank bones.
-BLMs is bursting with AM, and the chains are poorly-timed by him so that the mob isn't dead afterwards.
-Poorly-equipped melees. Have some pride. At least think of all the competition. I can pick up a Hume monk with garbage, or I can pick up a Galka one with Kote, Snipers, and BB. I'm at the point where I'm going to start sending people tells asking them what they're wearing.
-Poorly-equipped WARs as a subset of the above, who are embarassing us as a job.
-PLDs who can't keep hate for crap. YOU WERE MADE TO KEEP HATE, USE ALL OF THE TOOLS THAT YOU'VE BEEN GIVEN!
-RDMs. For every good one, there's 10 bad ones. RDM is a busy job, seems the hardest to play along with NIN, so I can see why so many suck ass.

He should think twice about SATAing on the WAR. Warcry is useful for SATA done right, WAR turns the mob with it, then you and THF chain and SATA hate onto you.
I don't mind THFs SATAing onto me, but only when I have /NIN.

Amen to that. There's a DRG in my level range who was making a group. There were no RDMs or BRDs on at that time. I told him, "we have to wait for one, a PT probably won't work without it". Five minutes later he says "I can't wait anymore" and passes leadership/logs. I waited and was able to build a workable PT.
No great loss since he was a DRG and his equip was sub-par, double whammy there :dead:

I agree with exactly what you said Bigokk. I haven't seen a single well-played player unable to overcome their racial inadequacies. MP is probably the most persuasive stat on a player, but even that can be overcome in the later levels.
Warcry being used improperly is, like Ozzy said, a subset of poorly played characters. Anybody who knows their job should understand the mechanics of their abilities and when to use them. I don't party with PLDs and THFs together, but when with a NIN, I always turn the mob towards me for sneak attack + trick attack. My new favorite use of Warcry has been when our DRK uses Souleater.
I hate the whole thing about being a girl character so therefore I'm obviously game to be hit upon. "Hey Lii, <insert annoying flirt here>". This isn't a cyber-sex chatroom.

Why would anyone use WC when the THF is about to SATA? ._.
I usually use it when we're going to skillchain, and by that point in the battle even if the mob does turn the pld can get it back pretty quick. It's the actuall WS that would give him a problem when you're cranking out big numbers.

Sucky PT leaders. Yes its one thing to stopwhining about invites and make your own PT, Its a completely different thing to :
1. Have no idea about good pt setup- I dont think I need to go into details here.
2. Invite one people and make them take care of the rests for you >_< |I don't speak any Japanese| is not an excuse here.
3. Impatient, Making PT takes time, its a fact. You make one only if you think you can get it going, and if it dont........ well passing leadership/logging is not going to get you anywhere.

lack of understanding party dynamics (ie, need a dispel, if not a refresh)
using the damn translator when i'm flagged E and you're not japanese (i'm getting this at 56 still... wtf...)
and the silly "<job> (Looking for party.) (Please invite me.)" shouts... and half the time it's an underleveled sub. i guess it's just me, but i think this game is geared more for minimaxers/munchkin gamers than the casual gamer, but then i am one, and i know some casual gamers on this and the only reason they didn't suck is because they never got past 20, and not sucking at low levels is easy to do, any casual gamer can.
ah, and i forgot when a party leader wants to go to an overcrowded camp and try to exp, say... garlaige at 30-36 and there are six parties there (one or two more than the place can support, even if you camp the banishing gate), and you mention it to him and they still want to go... and then 20 minutes and 700 exp later he wants to leave or the pt falls to crap or both

That can go wrong in many situations. For one, warcry has a 5 minute timer and below the 50's, it takes less than 3 minutes to kill a mob. Sometimes it's just not up.
Secondly, I might pull the mob back before the THF satas. I know provoke + warcry is a lot of hate, but I AM doing a debuff and then Rin right after. Some might think that provoke+warcry will turn any mob period hasn't yet tried to save a Taru NIN after a screwdriver ; ; (had to provoke, warcry, rampage to pull it back). If the war hasn't subbed NIN, when he vokes and warcry, he'll get hit. If he's unlucky, those hits might be enough to make the mob turn back to me.
Against non super-special-attack type mobs, I personally favour SATAing behind the war if it's in mid battle. 400 viper + 200 distortion....I rin for 100ish, debuffed before for 70, MBed for 100. A voke and a few debuffs should be able to pull it back.

here's some of the things that really irk me.
1.) calling me out to play replacements to exp somewhere really far away from jeuno. oh god how many bad experiences i've had with this one, especially since i started playing rdm. back when i started exping rdm in yhoator jungle, i was sitting in jeuno seeking party when i got an invite to party in yhoator. i ran airship chocobo to the party... 10 minutes and 3 mandragoras later, everyone decides to leave. ugh. as soon as i get back to jeuno, i get another invite to a party in yhoator jungle. i get there and as soon as the party gets 6 people 2 of them go afk (dumbasses) then we get to camp... we kill 2 mandragoras and then the whm decides that he has to leave and then the others decide to leave as well and then i'm dumbfounded and was highly tempted to curse someone out. getting into two parties in one hour and then they fall apart in 10 minutes bleh. after that i refuse any other invites to party with NA players that night (since they were both na parties after all -_-). now my policy is i will not replace any party member for any party already at the zone they are leveling in. if the party is not starting in jeuno, then i'm not joining.
2.) invites without tells and the occasional subsequent invite spam after saying no. for some reason, this still happens at level 50+ and it's very irritating. and i usually refuse the invite. then the inviter asks me to join and i flat out tell him no. sometimes i get the people who INSIST on inviting me and the he makes every member of his party ask me to join the party and the keep spamming invites in an effort to coax me to join through harassment and annoyance. to solve this i usually run out to batallia downs. it may seem arrogant, but i really don't want to party with a bunch of players who essentially bully me into joining a party even after i refused to join.
3.) 4 melee, 2 mage parties. i don't know if it's just me and becuase i've only ever played mage jobs past 40 but i hate when i as rdm have to be main healer for 4 melee, especially if the tank is a pld. pld requires a lot of attention, attention that a single rdm cannot possibly give. an rdm cannot properly do their job if they are expected to heal 4 melee and if those melee have mp. also, whm is a viable sub for me so all that one has to do is ask and i can sub whm. in fact, i put it in my search comments. but, whenever i end up in these parties, the leader doesn't ask me if i have it leveled or sub it at all. then the leader decides we should go fight crawlers and flies in the nest. ><
i'm sure there's other stuff that irritate the hell out of me as well, but i can't think of any right now since i my mind is poop :P
