What race, job?

Im getting FFXI whitin a week and im wondering what race and job i should take, does anyone have any ideas? I´ve been thinking about a Tarutaru blackmage. Is that good?

When I eventually get Final Fantasy XI I'm going to be a Black Mage so my answer will be biased. =P Although, you should really pick a class that appeals most to you.
