I noticed in a lotta games people created 'clans' and even here in FFXI... I dont get it... so What's the Purpose of this??? Is it just a equivalent word to LS?:sweat:

i do believe they are basicly the samething. clan is the group of people, linkshell is what they chat on.

Although I don't know of a purpose to a clan. I am starting one and Gyles is in it.

Clans are kind of LS but Clans could be for more than 1 type of game

the main point of having "clans" is get help from others, find group members, or do group activities like high level dungeon/monster raiding

Its not just help also you can have clans with just your mates so you can all play together, but penpen is right clan members look out for one another

oh man I really want this game. :( I want to be in a clan:( but i wont get the game till i get a job...

How big can a clan be :confused: sorry if that is a dumb question:sweat: i am new with this game and i am trying to understand it:sweat:

As big as you want ^_^ Though a maximum of 18 people (3 parties of 6 people) can do anything at one time as an alliance.

I think the maximum number of members for a linkshell is 64...or was it 46? Hmm..

even though this is the wrong place to ask that, its because they try to get good players so they can play against each other (to learn new things) and get higher up on the ladder.

Clans actually mean something in an MMO game. In FFXI, they aren't really clans as much as they are buddy lists. I know its not in the format of a traditional buddy list, but it stll acts as one.

I thought there was no limit to the people that can be in a linkshell.
