Did you make your way to 70 with zweihander?

K so zwei+1 is never for sale (nor do i care for the stats that much), and lock/mythrilheart is rarer than galka chicks. So, just curious but what greatsword were you using until lv70?

Zweihander is fine until you want to buy the million gil swords. Don't buy the San d'Orian one (or any weapon with 444 delay) because it will leave you with 99% TP after the 8th swing.

Yep i used Zwei to 75 (grin) Just not much luck with popping cancer and i spent my money on hauberk etc instead.

Now that prices are dropping on the non-balins, you might want to consider farming, but zwei isn't a terrible GSD.

It's just extremely common

if you got the money try this route:

Lv 60, get yourself a zweithander, no questions asked, cheap and effective.

Lv 66, mithrylheart. Not too expensive on most servers, around 1-1.5 mil.

Lv 73, Barlin's Sword. Last upgrade of the game (unless you can afford to fully upgrade the relic GS that it, LOL).

I notice that there is a pretty steady pattern on upgrades, every 7-ish levels. Darksteel 53(?) > Zwei (60) > mithyl (66) > Barlin (73). Scythe is kinda the same way, vassagos (58) > darksteal (65) > death (73). Maybe I'm paranoid. :spin:

I bought the Nagan when I hit 71.

I used Zweihander from 60-71

cool, i was starting to feel a bit under-equipped at 68 with zwei, i guess i'm just used to seeing 3 digit hits more often with the scythe. Hitting for barely more than 1 mnk fist doesnt help much either :p

is .... ok. It's got good point and bad point to it.

First of all it's very affordable. It's pretty fast, but not TOO fast. So that 9 hits give you 102% TP. So not a lot of TP goes to "waste". That's the good part, but the bad part is that it's weak, and the WS shows. Spinning slash using it will be 100 points weaker than say something like the Nagan or Barling's Sword.

Other Swords with 480 delay such as Mithryl heart, Barlin, ect, has the disadvantage that it's slower, and STILL takes 9 hits to go 100+ TP. (8 hits leave you at 96% TP). But they are significantly stronger. For example, Barlin hit for 100+ damage per hit against bones. It does average Spinning slashes of 900+, and souleater boosted ones well over 1000. The increase damage is reflected in the Light Chain as well.

Given that for a DRK near end game, 2/3 of your damage comes from the Spinning Slash and the Light SC. I would say that Zweight isn't ideal. It's good for 60-65, when more than 1/2 of your damage still comes from normal hits, or still Scythe use. But 66+, do try to get an upgrade if possible (hauberk is still more important though.)

I bought Balin's yesterday and sold the nagan.

To be honest, I do notice an increase in how hard I hit the mob onlt during the WS.

And to be honest again, the only real reason I bought it instead of keeping the nagan is because I wanted a black sword.

Nagan, Balin's and Balmung are all pretty damn good and you probably won't notice much difference no matter which one you use.

However, I like to pump STR and I am at 102 when fully buffed and I love it.

that the Balin will become the "standard' GS for DRK at end game. At least until they raise the cap to 80, and introduce a bunch more *leet* weapons into the game.
