I was surfing the BST forums and came along the /BST question. And apparently subbing BST is a viable option since you are able to Charm monsters with the same efficiency as a BST at the following lvl:

Quote Frumply:
"(current main lvl + max bst lvl(crop to main lvl if bst lvl > main lvl)) / 2"

This means if your BST is lower than your main job, you take the average of the 2 and that would be the lvl of mobs you are able to tame (or you would have the same charming lvl as a Bard of that level).

In theory you can charm mobs that are the same lvl as your currentl lvl (even match) if your /BST is higher than your main job!

Maybe this is why Dragoon's CHR is the 3rd highest in the game (after Bard and BST)!!

So you would have baby Dragon + Mob + Yourself as Damage Dealers!!!

Is this IT?! Could the answer to the Dragoon be a simple /BST?!

DRG has the SAME CHR as White Mage or Paladin (3rd highest in the game). Could this be the answer to all Dragoon prayers?!

ya only 1 pet can be out so that wouldn't work.

also we have the 3rd highest charisma to help us provoke after
a WS to get aggro so sata can land on tank. least thats the only benefit i have seen for charisma. maybe if charisma pumped up our wyverns strenght that would be cool but so far charisma does very little for us dragoons.

Ahhh, so that's why that 69PLD/BST I saw was able to tame those Kuftal lizards so easily <_<; I didnt think you'd have to have /BST at a higher level than it would be subbed tho =D But that's fine =3 I'm definately going to do this. It'll help level any other other jobs I feel an urge to play while waiting for parties =D This would be the best way to skillup too if you so desired~

I can see how /BST could be useful if you are in an area that the wyvern dies easily due to AoE or whatnot. At least you would have a pet to fall back on.

Otherwise, yeah, just one pet at a time, so not as useful as you'd like.

You won't have release til 35, you can't use jug pets, your monster will turn on you and your PT at bad times. /drg is horrible for PT's. For soloing, sure have fun, I do it with my drk.
