Well, I have been running the game for awhile now on 3d analyze, (which actually dosent make the graphics that sucky:rolleyes: )

because apperenlty the ffxi fails to recognize my hardware TNL, so i get a "Failed to recognize hardware TNL" message when i play it normally. I dunno, but microsoft said after sending my computer specs it should be able to play normally. This is probably because i have a integrated video card, but im not nerdy enough to know what a hardwear tnl is and all that crap.

My graphics are good now, except alot of times the battle effects wear off, like the blue spark when u hit dosent show up, and weapon skills appear only half way.

The probable only solution i think is get a new computer cause i cant upgrade my video card when its integrated, but i was just wondering if there is any super awesome technacle way i can get the game to run without 3d-analyze. Any way someone can make it receognize my "hardware tnl" (w/e that is)

Any computer masters out there? Thanks,

Umm, hardware TnL if I got it right is the Transform and Lighting. What version of Direct X are you running? Maybe try updating that to see if it works?

When you say integrated I'm guessing you mean an on-board video output. The on-board video most likely won't have support to run TnL, you'll have to actually buy a video card that PC can use and install it or just get a new PC which ever is easier.

It is kind of interesting how having your head out of your ass just enough to understand a nut from a bolt is something this person considers "nerdy". lol :spin:

Anyway, if you don't understand your hardware's features/limitations, a quick and dirty way to determine what is can and cannot do is to run a 3d benchmark and see what it reports. I can tell you right off that a lot of integrated graphics chipsets do not have hardware TnL.

Make sure that you are not using native Windows drivers. In other words, download and install drivers from the manufacturer's website. Generic drivers that come integrated into windows usually offer poor, or no 3D acceleration support at all. Also, as previously suggested, make sure you have the latest DirectX installed. Visit windowsupdate.microsoft.com with your web browser and look for the DirectX update if you dont have it already.

I hope that helps.

hehe. sorry im not insulting anyone by calling thme nerdy, i just thought that was a clever way to put it.

anwyayz, i am pretty advanced with computers and crap so most people would actually call me a "nerd" but im not at the point to understand flicker hzn overclocked gigs, and harware tnl ^^

anyway, my direct X is updated it jus ti have a INtel Graphics Extreme intergrated piece'o'crap, and thats one of the 3 cards that cant run this game :o

um, so i guess there really isnt much help unless anyone knows a beter force program to help run ffxi.

thanks,

You can upgrade your video card and either run both video cards at the same time, or disable your integrated video in your System BIOS. Should only cost you $40-50 to get a card that can adequately play the game at 1024x768. If you want 1280x1024 and all of the goodies turned on, you're looking at $200-300.

200-300$ Haha, YOu can get a 9600 pro for about 100-150 now, not to mention a 9000 pro (what I had) which will run the game fine for about 60-80.

Did you even read what I said?

Are you really going to say at 1280x1024 you can run the game with no decreased framerates assuming the following:
Environmental animations set to smooth
No compression of textures/maps
Increased overlay graphic resolution
AA and AS enabled

all of this on an ATI 9000 pro?

I'll buy that you may be able to do it with a 9600, but probably with some performance problems with BRDs around, large crowds and such. And yeah, you can buy some of the ghetto 9600s for 100 bucks now. Most of the ones for that price are OEM though.

You dont need a whole new Computer upgrade. Your problem is you have integrated graphics. The simple solution is to buy a Video Card. Ati 9600 ot Geforce FX 5700 will solve your problems cheaply. Max of 150-200 for either card depending on brand and where you buy it.

so, are you saying that i could buy a video card, and kinda have that video card and this intergrated one running at the same time? so the graphics would be better? I dunno if it will work, If i have a intregated video card, is there a "slot" to put in another video card?

EDIT: I have just been imformed that my computer (DeLL) does not have the nessesary APG slot to run an independent video card. So basically im screwed :( :( :(

I anyone still knows a way id be grateful but i am almost certain there is no hope besides buy a new computer, which i cant do.

Double Edit !: after lots of time researching i found my dell can use a PCI slot graphics card to upgrade my porformance instead of a APG, the older ones were PCI. hopefully this will work...:)

Usually you can install a separate video card, and disable the integrated on by setting the option in your BIOS.

You need to open up your case and look and see if there is an AGP slot free in there to put the card in though. The AGP slot is usually closest to the CPU on your board.

PCI cards are pretty much pure crap. Would be more efficient to buy a proper mother board that has an AGP slot and a proper video card for it. Those package computers are designed to scam money from the ignorant.

Depending on your level of comfort, you can probably just buy a new mobo that will use your current processor and a new video card for less than $200 that will do the job. I don't know if money is an issue or not... Just don't expect to be playing Doom III on it ;)

I have A good PCI video card and it does fine in this game.. I mean really good. But the sad part you have too get 1gb of ram too run real good.

No, not anymore, but I used to. Long time ago when PCI was the standard for video cards that is. There is a reason to why AGP is used today.

I'm not saying a PCI card can't run the game, but it's still crap.
