Well, I'm not sure how many people are in the same boat as me, but I have an import copy of FFXI, and since I am a native English speaker, who is learning Japanese, a lot of the Japanese language in the import client is hard for me to figure out. A lot of the words and characters I see in the import client are hard to determine the meaning of.
Does anyone want to help compile a list of common items and things to make life a little easier?
Thanks!

This should help if you know enough to read hiragana and katakana, ( JP → EN ):

look no further then this site. THis place has tons of tranlations
most of the menu/abillities and stuff like that are in katakana and shouldn't be too hard to figure out. if you don't know the kanji.. well then you have to learn them... good luck :(

Thanks :)
My challenge has always really been Kanji. The Kanji that relate to FFXI items and such are hard to find by trying to look up the characters. There just doesn't seem to be an easy way for me to figure out their meanings quickly. Hiragana and Katakana are much easier because they are characters that represent sounds, which, if you can pronounce because you can read it, you can look up the meaning quickly.
Kanji, on the other hand, is very hard for me, and there are too many Kanji to start from scratch and learn them all, and hope that I get to the ones that are most commonly used in FFXI. That is why I was looking for the most commonly used ones so that I can learn more quickly to to make my way around in the JPN client.
Thanks to all of you who provided reference material / links. I sincerely appreciate it. I'm trying to learn Japanese, and FFXI helps tremendously, it is just that since they wont allow Japanese input on the NA client, you have to have everything in Japanese, so it makes it really hard for people like me who don't know all of their Kanji yet.
Thanks again!
