Early level question

Hi all.

I recently restarted playing FFXI after a couple of months off. Unfortunately, since SE has this nice policy of erasing characters that have inactive account of more than 3 months, I'm back to square one. So much for having a 33 brd/33 whm :rolleyes:

Anyway, I decided to play a rdm since they are relatively painless to get through the first 10 levels and I had always wanted to try the class out.

My question is where do people do 10 to 15 nowadays? I'm on Fenrir if that helps. When I started playing the first time it was during the NA release so everyone was in the Konschat Highlands.

Also, I know that whm are mnd focuses, bards are cha focus, and blm are int. Which stat is most important for a rdm? Also, does it make more sense to try and focus on getting +mp items like I did as a brd/whm? Namely the +mp earrings, rings, friar's rope, zealot's mitts, etc.

I usually solo my jobs until lvl 12. Then I go to the Valkrum Dunes and kill Lizards. If you don't want to solo until 12 though, try getting a party in La Theine to kill some crabs at the lake until lvl 12.

I recomend mp+ items for any RDM race but taru. As a elvaan I really did not have mutch proublem with slow and paralize sticking in the early levels.

I agree. Getting anything that boosts MP is a must. However, below lvl 41 I would also strongly consider getting items that increase your evasion and AGI as you will still be meleeing and casting then. I still melee at lvl 43, but ever since I got lvl 41, I'm finding that melee is becoming less and less a part of what I do. ;)
