Dispel and phalanx

what creatures drop these, where are they and what level do you have to be to kill them solo or in party?

please help. i can't afford these and would like to continue leveling with these spells available.

I believe they are both dropped by BCNM40 monsters.

Both from BCNM40. Not sure if Dispell is from 30.

Basically it's easier just to buy them.

Dispell 70k Approx and Phalanx...well I paid 125k. Other servers report much higher prices.

Farm beehive chips, wool etc for a few days and your laughing.

They are both worth it.

If you can get to Rabao, in Altepa (I forget if it's East or West) you can buy Dispel off an NPC for cheaper than at AH (or so I've heard on my server).

maxed fame, dispel will set you back 63k from a vendor in rabao. phalanx is a bcnm40 drop (possibly bcnm30 now also?).

Midgardsormr sucks... during the last three days it went up from 190 to 256k. ; ; Phalanx on our server is so fluxuating it's not even funny @@;

I bought phalanx at level 50, it certainly wasnt as gret as I expected it, it's mainly for too weak stuff or easy prey. Instead of getting hit for 30-40 I'll get hit for 8 or so, it also makes stoneskin last much longer. But if you fight a tough it will still rip you apart. The only use I see for it is to farm, you'll be much quicker since everything will hit you for almost nothing.

Dispel however is essential, you need that for PTs, I wouldn't xp past 32 (thats the lvl you can learn dispel) without it, you'll just gimp yourself out by not having it ASAP, Phalanx is a novelty, dispel is a must... Specially with those damn anticans they come in pre-buffed with Blaze Spikes, Shell II, Protect III, etc. SO everytime you start a fight you have to dispel them 2-3 times in a row. At 34ish you will start xping in Crawler's Nest and it is very useful there, though not as insanely useful as with those mobs you have to dispel a million times to get all their damn buffs off later on.

I think I might leave Phalanx until quite a bit later.
It's not much use for partying is it?
I'd much rather have the money for more essential spells and equipment than something I won't use that often.

Dispel drops off of BCNM30 for sure. I've gotten 4 or 5 scrolls doing BCNM30. Not sure about dropping off of 40 or not, never gotten one from the one I do. Phalanx is a really common drop for my PT. We've gotten another 4 or 5 of those and 3 or so Erases out of ~20 BCNM40's.

Check the price of Dispel on AH since it now drops from BCNM30. Quite often, you'll find that AH price is cheaper than the magic shops, especially if the spells drop from mobs. This is certainly true for III elemental spells. Phalanx is not essential. Wait til you have enough gils or the price is too gd to pass up at AH.

I'd agree with Tom. It's not essential. It's just a tool to make your life easier where as Dispell is a kinda required tool.

Went to kill a dancing weapon out of boredom the other night. Aggroed me (Easy con) before I got Phalanx up.

Was hitting for 49 approx. Even at lv 36 this is still pretty painful eventually. Managed to get Phalanx up (wasn't watching dmg) and got Stoneskin up. Stoneskin lasted almost the whole battle.

So only had about 70 off the whole fight. Without Phalanx i predict HP loss would of been significantly higher since stoneskin would of dropped much faster.

Orchish Brawlers in Batallia can't damage me with Phalanx up because their attacks are 2 medium attacks (monk) rather than one strong one (DRG or WAR) so the poor things just keep hitting for 0,0,0,0,2 critical, 0,0,0

Yeah I was able to buy the spells when they were available for my RDM. I think it is 32 for Dispel and 24 for Phalanx..

I purchased Dispel for 60k on and Phalanx for 120k on Siren. Yeah I know im lucky, but there were so many in the AH that the prices had to drop to even sell.

Let me tell you get these as fast as possible.. The reason is now when I farm I get hit for 0 , 0 , 0 , 0 everytime. Its simply amazing. So I spend less time healing and more time farming. I cannot believe some charachters are 50+ even 60+ without this spell. ><

Even in parties casting Phalanx lets you take a couple hits at a fraction of the damage. Usually the RDM will die eventually, but with Phalanx we can take some damage before the war/nin/drk/pld take the hate. This helps distribute the hate throughout the party a lot better.
