How'd you Afford lvl 30+ spells?

yea, mining has gone UBER bad due to noobs in Zerhum, and palbrough i still get aggro's : (

Just get Dispel for now - that's the one you really need in parties. Get to 40, then buy stoneskin if you have gil, then sub THF and go farming in Delkfutt - giants drop good gil with the THF sub, and you can get some other decent drops too.

Phalanx isn't really a must unless you are soloing stuff. Same goes for Stoneskin, really. Dia II, I don't use much because of the high MP cost, but it's good against crabs and beetles.

Agh, k. So really stoneskin, phalanx, those are just extra goodies for the bundle? will party's get mad if i just have dispel? (from your previous opinion).

also, how much gill per drop? like will i rack in a 8k+ a hour?

Parties won't mind if you just have dispel, I'm sure. If you sub THF, you can get 150-200 gil from each giant you kill. Stick to the first 3 floors for safety. Giant Lobbers occasionally drop an item worth 3000 too.

I stopped levelling at 31 and got dispell by farming beehive chips in a number of places. Places like Konschat are great for it since you can farm chips and sheep skins (which you can make there and then into sheep wool).

12 honey = 1300 approx
12 wool = 8k approx
12 chips = 3k
12 sheep teeth = 1500 approx
Gobs = 10-30 a kill
Gob Armour = 300-700 a piece

Money is on legs, go stop it from walking :)

BTW Treasure hunter REALLY helps. Not only do you get more items when killing gobs you will have the gil hunter effect which boosts gil quite nicely.

If you are brave (or stupid) enough and have good Sandoria fame you can do the Teleport Altepa quest.

If you can sneak. You can do the quest in Quicksand Caverns which is a 50+ zone full of anticans. Basically take the quest charge in and find the ??? touch it and go back.

If sneak drops your dead. Period.

Actually, this is how I paid for Dispel. I think you're exaggerating a bit. There are a lot of little places to hide, and ants aren't the most perceptive of aggros. I had a few sticky situations but never died. If you're in the middle, sandy area of QS and sneak drops, that's classified as a stick situation. If you're on the edges, or stone area of QS, you could almost run through there without sneak. It took me a while to come across the ???, but I broke it down to a pretty good system of checking places. I actually had the ??? disappear on me two times....

As mentioned above, Dia II and Phalanx aren't really necessary. I didn't get Dia II until after I had some AF. It wasn't really worth the gil to use it (plus I used Bio II a lot). I wouldn't really worry about Phalanx until 50->60. To me, enhancing isn't high enough to really give a great boost on Phalanx until those levels. After 50, you will start taking little to no damage from things 10+ levels below you. Before that..... eh. Phalanx isn't that great if you don't have stoneskin in addition.

I'd put stoneskin next on your list (after Dispel) if you have some extra cash. That's just a great spell.

I love Phalanx... it's like a stoneskin without a certain damage limit (against weak mobs) When I farm tigers in Batallia, they only hit me for damage one in every 2 hits. It goes like: 0, 5, 0, 12, 0, 3 etc... When the damage accumulates enough, I just use drain and get it all back. Of course I wont have that once I get my THF to a good level to sub, but then again, with evasion bonus, I wont be hit as much :p

Its fairly useless in parties and best used in conjunction with Stoneskin. By the way- I noted that you're level 50+, meaning that you fall into the category that I mentioned above. Its useful, but I wouldn't rush out to get it asap pre-level 50. I got Phalanx around level 40 (by selling Erase from Bcnm 40... back in the day when Phalanx was 300k. I'm not sure what it is now) and it... wasn't that useful. Right now, however, the spell is priceless.

It will always look cool though.

In parties monsters hit you so hard Phalanx wouldnt really help, but farming its great. I love it. Bought it for 125k, but so many people are doing BCNM now, that its falling. Erase 2 weeks ago was 300k+ solid, now down to 275k and dropping.

I actually bought Phalanx in my early 40's...probably 43-44, so I've been using it a while, but it's really not needed that early, I just wanted it out of the way, so at 50-55 I could concentrate on spell/equipment upgrades.

The hardest part right now is getting THF leveled for Treasure Hunter.

Get Dispel first then stoneskin but Phalanx is worth every penny and has paid for its self 10X's over in my eyes. I suggest getting it as early as you can because it is such a great spell. I got it at lvl 41, plus I paid about 135 for it. I personally have used this to kill much harder NM's that had kiled me in the past. Also, in my experience, it makes Stoneskin last about 2-3x longer - GREAT SPELL!
