The 2 hour you are thinking of is the BLM one, called manafont. It gives you unlimited mana for a certain period of time.
The RDM one is somewhat similar, except that you only have as much mana that you can use regularly, but the delay on casting is basically eliminated.
Basically it lets you cast spells one after another, without a cast time until your MP runs out. It's called chainspell.

Yeah.. But if you tend not to use it very much I suggest using it in parties whenever you can (If you know you have a good solid group) Just use chainspell and nuke with your strongest nuke. At 40+ you can do this, and convert when you run out of MP to continuously nuke for.. quite a while. It's fun ^^.

Combination Chainspell and Meikyo Shisui is a sight to behold as well.
Instant renkei + double/triple magic burst per renkei puts the hurt on the opponent.

Chainspell + Warp = Instant Escape.
Used it in Garliage Citadel when i was hunting for the Teleport Dem scroll quest item. Get aggro? Chainspell Warp out before anything even gets close to killing you.
You would need to be lv 34 RDM/17 BLM to do this though.
Good for when soloing and your about to die. Chainspell Cure 2 + Cure 2 + Cure 2 and unload some debuff/nukes...
Aside from that I dont find much use for it outside of finding it amusing aside from last mob of a PT just unloading chainspell + thunder on a mob.

BLASPHEMY!!!!!!!!
I still, to this day, have not used chainspell once to get me out of a tough position. Usually, by the time I actually *need* to save the pt, I have no mana left. So, I told my PT yesterday that I was gonna use chainspell for fun (I had been with this pt for about 5 hours, and we had been getting constant 200 exp chains). One guy said "Please only save that for emergencies," and everybody agreed. I didn't even respond... needless to say, I casted aero a bit faster on the next mop .

I'll usually only use it if I pull aggro on something that'll mop the floor with me or when i've got only a few minutes left before I know i'm gonna log for the night, and I use it for the last thing my party pulls...

That was 4 * Raise in less than 30sec (2hr duration)
Recast on raise is about 50sec or something.
They think I'm doing this with fast cast
[And they say ps2 ppl aren't that bad... YEAH RIGHT!]:p

So sad...back at beta, I thought that subbing blm would give you manafont and proclaimed that the Windy dragon for mission 5-2 (was it that one?) would be easy providing that I activate chainspell and manafont at the same time  ...
I realized after how salty the ground is in balgais dais....

If the monster uses MP, Chainspell + Aspir is always fun if you need some MP.

The interesting thing about Chainspell is that it's multi-purpose, and in that way it mirrors the job of Red Mage. If you need too, you can use chainspell to cure everyone in your party and save lives. Cut down on chaining time and chain-nuke a mob, raise everyone lightning fast so you don't have to wait so long for weakness to go away, really the possibilities are endless, especially with refresh and convert.

My main "use" for it is to escape bad situations.
For example I was helping my WHM friend get his coffer in Fei'yin for Telepo-Vahzl and invis came off just inside a golem's range of sight. Got double-slapped for over 100 immediately and hit my Chainspell>>Warp macro. Saved my life.
Prior to having warp, I had situations where I would die because it would get interrupted or not cast fast enough. Or, if I had used two hour recently, it would be a problem.
For example, silly WHM (same one actually) aggroed a Wespe in CN inadvertently when we were hunting Exorays. In the confusion of trying to help him one came up behind me and slapped me for over 100 (and I had only 450HP or so at that time). I tried casting Warp and got interrupted. Then I tried again and it went off.... but I arrived at the homepoint as a corpse (much "THERE'S A DEAD PATCH AT HOMEPOINT!" shouting ~.~). Unfortunately I had used up two hour and the timer had not reset yet...
And of course there are the times in Eldieme, Garlaige and Castle Zvahl Baileys that I've been forced to use it as well.^^;
Sufficed to say, it can be quite useful for this. Chainspell>>Escape can be used similarly to save your entire PT after lvl58.
