Our PT makeup:

PLD 55
BRD 55
DRK 55
MNK 53
RDM 53
WHM 52

There are three NMs, Dog Guard, Owl Guard, and the main NM. As most people are probably aware, they can be single pulled; howver, it's important to fight far enough away from the room that low health aggro doesn't screw you over.

Dog Guard and Owl Guard both have ~6200 HP. They are standard skeleton monsters, roughly equivalent to tomb warriors in eldieme as far as damage output / defense / evasion.

The primary NM (name begins with a Y) has a little over 8,000 HP, and is around the same level as Dog Guard / Owl Guard. HOWEVER, and I don't know if people are aware of this, but I sure as hell wasn't...he has a proc (additonal effect, whatever) on his melee attacks that hits for 160-190 damage at the levels mentioned (and goes off every time he lands a hit). So, he hits you for 120 (if you're not the pld), and then also procs for 180....and can swing twice in a round...

Basically, the primary NM is really tough because of this...much healing will need to be dumped into whomever he is attacking at the moment. I personally died "taking one for the team" because it was attacking the DRK at the time, and she had 200 HP left, the NM had about 900 HP left, and I had about 400 HP left...I Raging Fisted it for 587, knowing full well it would draw aggro and get me killed. Nasty, nasty NM. :)

Just thought I'd mention a little more in-depth info than what I have commonly read in other places. :)

From what I hear most people don't even fight the main NM. I sure didn't. All that's required is the defeat of the two guards. When I came back after we killed the two guards, the main NM had dissapeared, so I just checked the Sarcoughagus and recieved the cutscene.

Thanks for the info though, incase someone accidently pulls the main NM, or if defeating the two guards doesn't de-spawn the main NM, they will know what they are in for.

Yep, all we had to defeat were the two Guards. I went in as 67WHM with a 62PLD, 66THF and 66SAM.

Now I just want to confirm with some people who've done the AF2. The location I need to go to is Eldieme Necropolis coming in from the Glacier side. Once going in is it the room with the sarcophogi some of which are broken and usually have the 3 ghosts? Or is it a different room?

All you need to do is pull the Owl Guard with Cure. Then you wait until the other despawn and its over. Its really really easy, you don't even need a full PT to do this. the hard part is getting there, its a really long walk.

I tried this escorting a few bards after recent patches, and it seems to be a bit buggy.

I did my af2 by doing the cure pull on a dog guardian and waiting for despawn. I tried that with these guys and it did not give them the event. We had to wait for the NM to cycle again and killed the NM and it gave event to one but not the other, so we had to pop it for a third time to be sure.

It's certainly buggy.

Unger mentioned the problem. We were fighting too close to the room, so when the Owl guardian got our paladin's life in yellow, the dog guardian came running over. No problem, just foe lullaby it. Then the main NM came running over and that's when the sh*t hit the fan. :( It was really hard trying to keep everything under control, especially with all those ice spikes effects going off. The hell hound, or whatever it's called, also respawned and started attacking the mages. I wanted to finale the skeles because I could barely see what was going on with all the lag from ice spikes, but at the same time I was trying to help the mages cure because of the adds. I know the PLD had to use invincible. I suggest fighting on the stairs or even up on the platform at the top of the stairs. This fight is really easy even if you choose to fight the NM as long as you don't have to fight all 3 within the first minute of battle.

And I appreciate you taking one for the team, Unger. ^^

I went last night with, 70Rdm, 64Pld, 62Pld, 59Rng, 57Whm, 53Thf, 53Brd, 53Drg, 52Sam, and me (52Brd). After we finally win, we were all half HP because both guard aggro us and keep aoe drain. So just remember because more people also mean more HP for the skeleton to drain.

So is the room I'm supposed to go to the one on the Glacier side that's down the corridor and has the Sarcaphogi that are selectable and usually has 3 ghosts in it?

Yap, I think it is the right room to go to. When you go into Eldieme, sneak and then go to straight and then go to left, down the stairs that has right turn in it and then there is the room. I only have 2 ghost in there at my time... maybe I am lucky! :) Becareful the dog that also popup at the stairs because it aggro. So kill the dog and all the ghost in the room first. The sarcophagus is first one on the left. Goodluck la~ ^_^
