I'm really lost on this earring issue. There are...
Phantom Earring
Moldative Earring
Morion Earring
Magician's Earring
......should i just buy all of them and hunt for the MOldative Earring and just keep swtiching around them in a PT?

I'd wear the +5 elemental magic skill one (the latent effect for /blm) and moldavite.

I just wear moldavite and wizard's, none of the others come close to the effectiveness of them.

currently using 2x Phantom Earring, planning on macroing Moldavite and Wizard earrings only for elemental magic casting by adding /equip lines to magic burst and elemental enfeeble macros
so my solution is to use them all
note: isn't magician's earring the Smn sub one for +30 MP? the +5 elemental magic earring would be more appropriate in most cases since the majority of people use /Blm

yup. i'm saving up for wizard as well.
Why arent there any +MND earrings? Only +INT, which there aren't enough of, causing Moirons to be ridiculously expensive.
It really sucks that it's so hard to get something worthwhile for earrings.
Right now I have Enhancing Earring +5MP, +5HP and Black Earring +4MP, +4 DARK resist

i would recommend rdm's get these:
1) morion talthum. use that worthless ammo slot!
2) moldavite earring. *cough* i got some high lvl help on this one. the earring is rare/ex, so you gotta go kill the mob yourself. and thanks goes to the person who helped me get it. ;)
3) wizard's earring. rdm/blm's this is a MUST HAVE. +5 elemental skill is all you need to know.
and maybe a morion earring, if you don't want moldavite or wizard's.
i would also say all rdm's should strive to get the red cape +1 version. you are going to wear it for a LONG time, might as well get the good stuff. in fact, i REALLY recommend it.

I thought the wizard earring came from a BCNM fight? Why not just fight for it? Or is this as rare or something?

Have done many BC30s just to try and get a Wizard's for myself and a Magician's for our WHM/SMN. And just have tons of Genin and Mercenary Earrings to show for it. Yeah, I'd say they're rare. Price seems to have stabilized at about 200k on Bismarck for Wizard's though, so I'll probably get one soon. Meh.

I had a rdm that was landing all nukes for nearly the same amount of damage as I would have, had I been casting those nukes (meaning, I was using blizzard, thunder III, and stone IV, and he was using water/fire III), and bursting for about 1/2 as much as I was. He did it by basically outfitting himself in the same way as I did, sans black cloak. Ice Staff, Dark Staff, Wizard's Earring, Moldavite Earring, Phantom Tathlum, Shaman's Cloak, etc. If you spend the effort, you really can nuke very well, very consistently, even outside bursts. It adds up to be a lot more effective than simply enfeebling/hasting/refreshing.

definitely. rdm/blm can nuke fairly well - especially equipped for it.
i just bought a red cape +1 so i'm kinda far from getting the wizard's earring right now :(

Red Cloak +1 then ? I think I only have a Red Cloak ( +2 MND and INT)
When you say we can nuke for almost as good as a BLM, do you mean with the 4 items you have stated? ( Moldative Earring, Wizzard's Earring, Ice Staff, Phantom Tathleum)
On my server Wizzards go about 200k, Ice Staff is around 400k and Phantom Tathleum I think is 180k.

Atrapos - In what way does the Shaman's Cloak benefit a mage nuking over certain AF pieces? Warlock's Chapeau has INT+3 and Elemental Skill +10, and offhand I'd guess either BLM AF chest or head does better than that. Swapping in Shaman's Cloak gives +4 INT, but only +5 Elemental Skill. Is there some sort of hidden effect, like with the Dark Staff, so I can feel stupid again? Because otherwise I'm not seeing what advocates of swapping in Shaman's Cloak after AF head/chest are aquired are getting at.

For its level its pretty good and saves a slot in your inventory. I wish I knew about the shaman's cloak back in the day.

if your hat gives +10 elemental magic skill...then by all means, forget the suggestion about shaman's cloak.
My af hat gives +25 mp and +4 int...my body gives +16 mp, +5 vit, and +10 enfeebling magic skill. So the +5 elemental magic skill is quite nice, and its not even at the cost of the +4 int.
And yes, I meant with those 4 items, a rdm can nuke about as well as a blm would without icestaff. Get an elemental torque too if you do alot of casting. That gear would transfer your relatively poor rating in elemental magic skill to much closer to an A rating. On ice day...my elemental magic skill is 294...let's just say I don't have to worry about resists anymore ;)

I've got two Morion's right now.
Since I act as BLM in my set, I'm definately going to get Wizard's and Moldavite. Next week I'm going to rope a couple of people to help me with Balgas Dais BCNM30 until I get the Wizard's. Seems like a good way to do it since you can make some money off the other drops~
Anyone want to help me get Moldavite? ; ;

And what level does stuff in that room stop aggroing...I might fight him when they do stop
