Elegy!

I hit 58 and ate my 60k+ scroll for Carnage.. I was scared to death. Frankly 60k is alot of money for me, I don't farm all that easily. ;__; Well I would have to say I am very impressed, It hardly ever gets resisted and the difference with a +1 horn is highly noticable. The WHM in our party literally saves at least half the MP usage he was using before.

Just wanted to say I was excitied. Most of my songs seem to be subtle differences (higher attack = more damage over the long run) and it was nice to finally see a song that I could really tell was helping.

WHM savng half MP might be a stretch but it is one of those songs that you can see a difference. Actually, the accuracy songs are quite noticeable as well, I party with the same set of people and sometimes when I get bored I play other songs and its funny to see all the misses scroll by, now they have caught on to me and check what songs I play:spin:

The higher you go as a bard the more noticeable our songs become.

Very nice to hear...I just dropped 65k on this bad boy, and I'm about to drop another 10k on an elegy+2 horn...Let's hope it is as good as you say!

I saw 6 Carnage Elegy drop while I was camping Oztroja coffer... but then I also camped Oztroja coffer for quite a while. ;)
But really, camp oztroja coffer key first and if the elegy drops ask if you can have it. Since you're doing something else that means the elegy is essentially free. Most decent people will let you have the scroll if you need it and the rest you know to avoid in the future.

Elegy is the first song I cast upon pulling, before everyone being aligned for Madrigal/Minuet.

The first one who notice our lovely song is NIN tank ^o^ Sometime I missed Elegy wore off msg, but it could be noticable fast by NIN casting interuption msg and his hp went to yellow :angel:

Anyhow, long recast time does hurt when you get 2 resists in a row ; ;

And latest price was jacked up from 60k to 90k again on Bismarck :mad: Lucky me I bought it along with Ballad2 when I was 52 (2 end-game songs for 120k is acceptable for me ^^;; ) and pt was very happy to see me learn the songs and use it just after I dinged. ^^)b

Elegy and Slow together reduce the monster attack speed by around 50%. It's so usefull, you're WHM will have MP coming out of their ears and the ninja will almost never get hit. But the problem is that not all the mage cast slow, many times I had to tell them to cast, even rank 10 players. Because they are just not aware how powerfull those two songs are together.

Hehe, if you're going to plop 60k down on something, one of best choices would definitely be Elegy. Elegy, Ballad, Madrigal, only things a BRD needs. =)

carnage elegy with +2 horn reduces by 1/3 exactly, based on some experiments i did.

i cast it on a bee right outside jeuno in rolanberry. i then started a timer and counted how many times it attacked in 5 minutes (refreshing elegy immediately when it wore off). i forgot the exact numbers but it was something like 80 attacks. then i counted 5 mins of attacks w/o elegy. 120 attacks roughly - it was almost exactly 50% more (1/3 less attacks).

just FYI.

i would be interested in the same experiment done with Slow.

are you all certain it stacks with slow?

because just yesterday i was messing around trying to get some skill-ups. i was using Battlefield Elegy and than tried to use Slow, i would get - Slow has No Effect on <t> message.

anyway, it was up to 80k or 90k on my server, now there are 10 scrolls sitting there with the last two sold at 60k. i'm being greedy hoping a few gets returned and that people would slash the prices some more.

i've also 2k from Lv 59 and still need to get Oz Coffer Key. kinda torn whether i should buy it when the price drops or try to get it while getting coffer keys, i most certainly will get the 2k XP while helping out with other Coffer keys.

I'm pretty sure Elegy stacks with slow. It's such a good debuff~! Sometimes I'm partying with people 2-3 levels higher, I make sure the debuff lands even if I have to recast it 3 times (singing other songs while waiting for recharge). I've killed many Conductors but have never ever seen it drop >_<, must be bad luck.

Quite certain Elegy stacks with Slow. Elegy is one of our better songs, and THE reason to have high CHR at high levels for HNMs -- Having that HNM with Elegy will make your blink tankers' lives much easier. Plus it's possible to land Elegy on most NMs I've found (Only a handful have given me 100% Resists). I definately want Massacre Elegy that Roc and Simurgh have, hopefully in this new expansion...

I must agree, it seems like Slow stacks just fine with Carnage Elegy. Seen it land successfully after Carnage Elegy 10 times now since I dinged 59. The slows were cast by a level 58 RDM. Redoing Carnage Elegy after slow also worked fine.

Yes, they do stack, just as refresh+ballad stack. And dia/bio+requiem. And carol+bar-spells. Any song will stack with its spell-equivalent.

Amen to that, Massacre Elegy is brutal. I can't even imagine what it must've been like in the days before Erase.

I am so surprised that no one has tried these tests out on other players they're friends with yet. We can stop the debates and finally go see if both icons appear on someone's screen. Or have your friend do it on you to make sure it does what it does.
