Substitute to Gluttony sword.. ;.;

Can anyone tell me what a good substiutute for Gluttony Sword is? I really want the Sword but its reaching 500k on my server and I jus dont have the time to farm 500k. Nor the patience. Would bastard sword be an Ok substitute for lvl 60. thanks.

Just buy whatever you can afford. The 7 vit from gluttony is nice but it will not break you if you don't have it. I never own a Gluttony and I still reach lvl 75 and tanked few HNM in 18 alliance situations.

The ones I used were Dragvandil -> Bloody Sword -> Espadon+1. If you can't afford Espadon+1 at lvl 66, Espadon will be fine too. Then you can maybe camp Charybdis for Joyeuse(70).

I mostly see people using Espadon when they can't afford Gluttony. You could always camp Gluttony if you want. It's not too hard but it does take a large amount of people to camp it, especially if you're low level.

60 is probably low lvl to you lol, But yea I seen some people with bastard sword, It dont seem too bad. Gluttony has a huge delay too. Neways thanks for the advice guys.

Wow 500k for Gluttony @_@ *gasp* its about 300k in my server and Espadon+1 when up to 450-480k these days. I know I got Espadon+1 for 400k and Gluttony for 350k back then when I was level 55, kinda early but I like to buy stuff in advance when the price is right.

I bought my gluttony for 300k, it's down to 160k now;;. Anyway, I bought Espadon+1 for 300k and I really like the lower delay and nice stats, I still have +19 vit even w/ the change in swords. I see alot of plds on my server using a bastard sword if they couldn't afford the gluttony (although there is no excuse now :P), the if they still couldn't afford the espadon+1, they bought the regular one. Personally I only like the best, but I have alot of time on my hands to farm the needed money, some ppl may not have the benefit of that.

Wondering if anyone could give me their opinion about the delay on the gluttony compare with other swords?

I really like my Tactician Magician's Espadon+1 delay. Plus the attack +12 is very nice.

Buying the sword is not a problem but im just curious about the gluttony’s delay.

I think getting Gluttony once you hit 57 is a good idea, VIT is more important than dmg, thats what most PLD in my server did they switch to Gluttony at 57 and use it till 75 even for some. I on the other hand switch from Gluttony to Espadon+1 for plenty of reasons 1) I like change 57-66 is a long time so I'm bound to change my gears 2) I'm not a fan of -1 all stats person 3) Espadon+1 stats seems quite balance with nice plus stats 4) I switch for less delay, why? because I can land more hits quicker as Elv since we got crappy accurancy since each miss blows, plus more hits landed=a bit more hate output . I admit loosing 5 VIT without Gluttony kinda bugs me at times but it goes away once I start tanking with def food and juice. Overall its your pick, stick to Gluttony pass lvl 66 or change to Espadon/Espadon+1 at 66. I switch to Gluttony at 57, Espadon+1 at 66, Company Sword/Espadon+1/Wing Sword at 70, nothing at 73 till Excailbur drops. :biggrin:

Kinda sucks that when we reach level 60 all the swords from then on, that you should be using, do around the same amount of damage.

Until you, of course, get excalibur.

Jaxon pretty much summed up what I did. More then anything I like my Espadon+1 better b/c I start the skillchain for my static pt. Mnk and drk are the melee so I need to swing fast to build up tp quickly to not hold them back so the lower delay for this sword gives me a better chance to gain tp in the long run over the gluttony.
Red Lotus + Howling Fist(I think) + Spinning Slash makes lvl 3 light and 2 MBs in between can pretty much kill the bones on Gustav Tunnel at full hp.

I decided to buy it and got it for 280k on Titan.

I got myself a holy mace to test out the delay (300), and I didn’t find it that bad after all. I guess the gluttony combined with haste should do the trick.

The espadon+1 will remain my priority once I hit lvl66. I plan on testing both swords to see what will work better for my setparty.

Bastard Sword for level 60 is fine. I have a Glut Sword myself but I'm enjoying the fact I'm doing more damage with it over the fact I have +7 VIT.

Believe it or not I never knew what a Gluttony Sword did or why so many paladins wanted it, or even the fact that it existed when I was around 57. ^^;;; Then I found out and went to get it eventually. I think I levelled using the Bastard Sword for quite a bit, got my Gluttony at around lvl 69. So no, it won't kill you.

personaly at 60 i switched to dragvandil and much prefer it i still have my espadon +1 in storage but the paralisis comes in very handy when farming it almost never sticks on IT's so wont make a big hate difference.

the sword is fast and i do build my tp comparably to the rest of the melees for SC's i have the getting hit advantage for that.

+vit is nice but the -1 on the rest NO thanks.

wearing most of your equipment for + stats then using one item that reduces all when theres other choices that dont nerf your stats. hmmm. and paying a fortune for it.


keep gluttony i dont want it, theres better uses for the gil.

Is skipping Gluttony Sword also viable for a Mithra Paladin? Because of our lower natural VIT? The only think ticking me off is the price at the moment.

Hmm... I wonder if StQ is worthwhile... this thread is making me think about buying either espadon+1 or StQ.... have gluttony already, which is ok... and I have enough money for either swords...

but save the queen's acc+ is a latent effect isn't it? that wouldnt be very helpful...
