What do you think is the best starting country?

Ok i know this is an old thread, but i have only been here for a month and still trawling through the forums.

I beleive that bastok is the best place to start due to there being 2 areas you can explore from the city to get a bit of variety. The Zehram mines and of course North and south Gustaberg. also teh items in teh zehram mines that are dropped sell well if you get a stack, I sold some zerham soot for 12000gil last week with my second character Brickshouse, bat wings sell well etc. so bastok is probably a great starting point, it also has many quests that you can do at low levels and the first mission is a doddle.

hope this helps.

I agree with Jarre. but windy would be good also for its Crawlers which drop Silk Theads. These sell for 50-55k a stack, but the drop rate is not that good, you also can't fight them until about lvl 7-9. I think its worth it though. I leveled my thf there and got half a stack from lvl 7 to lvl 9.

I believe that Sandy'Oria is the best place to start :P yes it is true you can farm crawlers in windy, but at a low lvl it might be a bit difficult to get all the silks you need, so what I did was lvl up to atleast twenty and then traveled to windy via choco or airship and did some farming then, and Sandy makes a pretty good place for me to get most of my grapes for alchemy ^^

sandy is an awesome starting city.

farming fire crystals in ghelsba outpost is veeery easy, and east ronfaure is an excellent xp zone.

i thought this was a Garuda server thread. anyway, if you want constant hold on the regions, i would say go with San d'Oria, if you want the mediocre one (so the "Outside of your Countries region" items work), go with Bastok and Windhurst. The good thing about San d'Oria are the orcs.

i gotta say windy. the silk sells well, i love the fishing and cooking is great.. Plus mage rocks and theres easy to get scrolls. The only downside is that for mid-low lvls the dunes are a while off
