I've hit 57 with the pld, and at the moment I have cavaliers' mantle, 6 def or so, 2 vit, and -10 evasion. I'm wanting to upgrade to one of the following:

Beak Mantle+1 (I think) lvl 58 Def 6ish, Vit +2

Republican Mantle (Bastok Rank 6) Def:6, Vit+2, Dex+2

The beak mantle is 9k or so so practicly nothing in the scheme of things. I'm San Dorian, so the mantle would run me I think 32k CP, which I have and after looking at the really high rank items, none really interest me. But this is also Rare/EX, so if something better comes along, its just going to sit in the mog house.

So any opinions?

The Bastok Mantle is rank 6 I believe, 24K conquest points. So it would cost you 48K I believe. I think it is better to get the Beak Mantle +1.

Imo the Bastok Mantle is not worth 48K CP, I'm even contemplating not getting it for 24K, and going for Beak +1 myself instead.

Why not the Royal Army (San d'Orian CP) mantle? 9 Def (same as Beak+1), STR+2, MND+2. And you won't pay a premium on CP. :thumbsup:

The problem with the San d'Orian mantle is that is lacks the VIT+2, which becomes increasingly more important than defense alone as the monsters you fight become higher level, especially when you consider HNMs.

That being said, I use a Beak Mantle+1, at least partially because I'm from Windurst. ;)

Well I use a Republican Mantle; i have way too much CP :spin:

fyi: If you want to buy the Republican Mantle, your nation has to be in 1st place and Bastok has to be in 3rd.

Of course other possibilies are:
behemoth cape
fenrir cape
amemet cape
skinned rdm-tarutaru cape ( gives Refresh :thumbsup: )

And yes, I agree with Rhayn, you need every inch of vit you can get.
