Beta Testing Questions =)

Ok, so im noob and my recent interest in FFXI has only been sparked because ive been sent an email asking me to partake in the European closed FFXI beta tests. So i thought id get a little enlightened as to what to expect.

1) I have a lowely 56k (at this current time...) and i was just wondering what some fellow 56kers experiance in terms of lag. Like i heard something about when its raining there is really bad lag for 56kers? Any info from 56kers or people who know how much 56k lags is very much appreciated.

2) Assuming i find FFXI interesting enough to actually purchase, would it be advisable for me to import the NA pc version? I currently live in Australia and i assume itll be quite some time before FFXI gets its release here even after the initial beta testing period has finished. So, if i do import the NA pc version, will i have trouble running it on my machine? Will i have trouble registering and paying for playonline?

3) I was reading up before how peoples choice of name seems to make a big difference in this game. And my username has allways been Sea on all online games i play. Im not silly enough to actually think that it hasnt allready been taken, but i plan to use something similar (ie. Sealah), this wouldnt be offensive right?

Thats about all my questions for now, i thanks you tonnes for any person(s) that can give me answers. :)

You might be surprised to find that your name is available depending on the server that you join. Definitely do the beta test as it's free. The 56k shouldn't be a problem as long as your connection is reliable. As for importing, it seems that S-E doesn't mind too much recieving the money of an importer until the retail comes out in your region. I think that's when they want to enforce it so that they get you to buy another game copy. At least this is what seems to have happened with the NA people who imported the JP version (correct me if I'm wrong).

heh.... I just realised.... European beta test.... Australia.... that doesnt add up! :p

Errr no, i didnt spam anyones pm box, i asked you cause you got the game and thought mayby you could help :o.

And just cause im in australia that doesnt discount me from the trials, australia uses the european version of everything (console games aswell as pc games). So it still counts.
