I was wondering if anyone can inform me on how to make it so I can use the w, a, s, and d buttons to move around instead of it opening the say window whenever I press those buttons.

Goto the main menu and goto config , from their you can goto keyboard and then choose compact and you can move around with w,a,s, and d

u'd have to use the 3rd party software that replaces the key assignment, but if u do that, u gonna have to use other keys for those letters when chatting. (or switch the assignment by hotkeys, if the software has such a feature.)

and no, ffxi config doesn't allow u to do that, coz it assumes that alphabet keys r used for typing, not moving.

Are you sure? I can swear I am moving around with w,a,s, and d on the compact keyboard setting in config.

gee, i was forgetting about that. never had a need for that config so my oversight. (this feature was added in the previous patch, but long after i started playing.) and u r right, that allows use of those keys for moving around.

also, i was double-checking on the previous patch info, and found that after Oct 03 patch, u can also change the key assigments within the ffxi (which also turned out to be my oversight, i apologize). to do that, u go Menu->Config->Misc 2 on PC, or Menu->Config->Keyboard Input on PS2 (could be translated differently as i'm taking this from JP site), and then select Key Assignment to change them.

i apologize for my oversight and possible confusion this may have caused.

(original post deleted due to this reason.)
