Ok so at E3 today Maximillian and I were interviewed by a bilingual Square-Enix rep on our opinions on how Ballista works (this was during the 8 Vs. 8 ballista match they held), basically asking our likes and dislikes. I then went on to ask why it was that the NA version didn't support JP IME. After the representative told me he was unable to tell me, he told me. He said that SEX had and has been pushing for the NA client to be able to support the JP IME function but that it's actually due to Sony not allowing a JP IME supportative software for the PS2 to be used and insists on using some A-Alpha Text somthing rather program . . . (sorry don't remember). SEX decided to not allow PC NA users to use JP IME in order to keep the NA release fair between the PS2 and PC. However, he did announce that they keep pushing the idea of Sony allowing the PS2 to use JP IME and would in-turn make it available on both NA versions.

So it isn't SEX trying to keep us one step behind the JP client afterall. . . and maybe one day Importers alike can finally switch entirely to the NA version and those who only own the NA version can practice or use their JP skills.

It's the ability to type in Japanese characters. Not possible with the NA client.

If S-EX (put the - in, I know you like typing SEX but ya know? :P) decideds to put JP IME into the NA version of FFXI It's going to be hell. Lots of poeple are just going to start typing random letters in japanese and will just piss off everyone. I think they should leave it like it is, and for the people who want to type in JP to buy the JP version. Although I wish they would release a special version which allows us to type in JP but have the english client. I'd be all up for buying that upgrade. I don't think it should be free, becuase then everyone gets it and well... you know how some american's can act.

After replying to Deodorants post in one of my threads I am in one of these moods. I would just like to say what is that suppose to mean?

You are implying here that Americans are not sophisticated enough to resist the urg to spam random letters from a foreign language, so only japanese players with their enhanced brains are able to handle the ability to type in two languages.

Ive been studying Japanese for abour two and a half years on my own now and have become quite fluent in reading and speaking the language. I spend 60% of my time sitting in lower jeuno twiddling my thumbs, and I see all sorts of shouts. Japanese and English, ranging from the usual English tabbed christmas themed shouts, to the wide varietys of Japanese shouts such as missions, skillup parties, leveling parties, etc. Not once, in the 7 months that I have been playing this game, with 85 or so days logged, have I seen an irrelevent Japanese shout, and have only met a very small number of somewhat rude Japanese players. What I mean by irrelevent is

/sh yo joe, wassup hows life goin for ya
/sh aw shit man, it sucks. i just fkin died because some noob....

etc, I think you get the point. Also, I have never seen a Japanese do this - /sh (Elvaan) (Penta-thrust) in (Mithra) (Fun) (Hole) (Do you want it?) Have I seen English do this? All the time..

Im not one to generalize, but people who do stuff like this really stand out and makes NA`s look bad. It may be unfair, but unfortunately that`s the way it is. People generalize based on stuff like that. And by the way, Im not American nor Japanese. Im Canadian, so rather unbiased. (Yes I know it`s part of NA, but people started specifically saying American`s, including Kama).

Really Kama. You're taking this a bit too far. I like anime, I like Japanese culture, but then again I don't worship it. I don't really see myself as American even though I live here. I mean I don't like how there's JP only groups and stuff but I can understand it. Alot of NA players are rude. Not all of them but alot of them.

Personally it ruins the game for me when I feel I'm polite and competent enough to hold my own in a JP PT. Stop whining Kama. If you don't like JP players then just blist every one you see and stop implying that all of us who can appreciate their knowledge and skill in the game are "JP worshipers."
