Do you have to do the AF armors in order?

I finished AF1, and I got my coffer key for garleage citral, for the AF cornet. NOw do I have to do the feet and the hands before I do the cornet?

I think so. The requirement for doing AF 3 is to complete AF 2, for example.
Correct me if I am wrong :)
