ffxi cdkey reinstall <-- help me out

well i bought the game when it came out and i recently quit err (month ago) so my friend wanted ffxi so i gave it to him and he said it wouldnt install. the next day he said that once you already used your cdkey, it wouldnt work and i was really confused. i asked people @ #ffxi if it were to be true but they said it wasnt but im still not sure. please help me out.

Maybe your friend was trying to make a new account.
You can only use the CD-Key once, so when he installed POL, instead of choosing "Registration" or whatever the button says, he gotta chose "I already have an account" and put there your old account info.. but becareful because the account saves all your credit card info and stuffs :x

I'm not fully sure what you are getting at, but here is what I know. You can lose the CD-Key, and reinstall the game, as it won't ask you for it again as long as you continue to use the same content ID. However, you cannot edit or purchase more content ID's without having the CD-Key.

It sounds like you have the CD-Key though. In that case, I don't see why it wouldn't work. You can still continue to use the same content ID. Just delete the character, and make one new one.

I'm only guessing, but I'd assume he'd have to take on your name, though, to log on. This way S-E can prevent fraud. I'm quite certain their intention is not to allow you to give this game to your buddy once you get sick of it.

It is exactly the same as if your pc crashed, and you got a new hard drive... You reinstall it.

The CD-KEY is tied to your account, (the 4 letter 4 number name that was given to you when you made it). Since you are no longer playing (I assumed that you canceled your account). He will have to go in, and login using your Name and Passowrd and change all the account information over to him.

Things you can do:

Install the game on any computer with your CD's.
Play on any computer using your Login and Password.

Things you can NOT do:

Use a CD key for a different account, this is not diablo 2, nor is it any other game that uses a CD key, this is tyed back to that 4 letter, 4 number account you were given.

Log into the same account while someone is playing it you will get "This account is already active within the Realm" (or something to that effect).

I highly recommend that you log in and find the billing section and have him sit down and enter in his info, otherwise you will continue to be billed.

well my other friend is payin for my character cuz he neeeded it for farming purposes and i guess he isnt going to cancel it so its my character isnt canceled.

do i have to cancel my character inorder for my cdkey to work foranother comp?
