NECK: IM Gorget or Medieval Collar?

So I bought today my IM Gorget (went from 200k to 80k in a short amount of time :spin: ... and as I say to my LS "Yay! Bought my IM Gorget!", one of the guys how's kinda high level tells me at once "Give it back", lol...

He says Medieval Collar is better... I must say my thinking stopped at level 35 (for the collar), so I thought it couldn't keep up with a level 55 neck... But now, I do think about it more..

Here are the stats btw:
IM Gorget: 7 DEF, +15 HP, +1 VIT
Medieval Collar: 3 DEF, +2 VIT

So it's really all about 1 VIT or, 15 HP and 4 DEF.


What do you guys think?...

i have a medieval collar... just cuz... it's better than coral, and i cant afford IM... but i might just switch to ryl. grd's later... cuz elvaan.. ya know... need the accuracy, already got a lifebelt D:

My suggestion? Don't give it back just yet. First test it out on a few XP runs and see how it goes for you. You might not notice the +1 VIT difference all that much. Also, if you already picked Cherl rings (+3 Vit) the difference might be even less.

I use Royal Collar too. Already having a Glutton sword, 2 chrysoberyl rings and other stuff that boosts my def and vit insanely high, I like to reserve a slot (neck) to help boost my attacks a bit (I do see some improvement, in general). I know I wont see much or if any noticeable benefit returns wearing the 2 neck gear mention in first post.

I understand that Paladins need to push VIT like nobody's business, but to pass up 4 DEF and 15 HP just for one point of VIT seems short-sighted to me. Keep the IM Gorget.

Besides, prices probably haven't even stabilized on the Medieval Collar yet (it's been in the game for less than a week). Even if you do want it, wait for the price to go down after the "early adopters" all have theirs.

I've had the IM gorget but I'm thinking about switching to the royal guard just because missing all hits of vorpal blade on a torama is really pissing me off. Then again, this happens while using a Life Belt so I dunno if the gorget alone will make that much of a difference.

a) Torama's are extremely hard to hit and shouldn't be your target average creature. I usually tell parties to not go there unless they have a bard.

b) Once you get Swiftblade and can do level 3 renkei's, you will change your mind about accruacy. Alot of people say Vorpal is where it is at, but Swift Blade is so much better.

I've been kinda torn on getting either an IM gorget or sticking with my Medieval Collar.

I haven't seen it in action yet so I'll make my decision once I put my Medieval Collar to the test. Anyways lately the IM gorget has been a lot more accessible ever since Bastok got 1st on our server, it went from 2 at the AH to 33.

With a good renkei, we were doing chain 3 and 4 on toramas easily. The renkei alone would take off about 3/4 HP. Call me crazy but toramas seem to evade way more when they're low HP so we wait until about we've taken off 1/4 of the HP and we unleash hell :) Seems to work.

I'm currently using IM Gorget (any more accessory upgrades will wait until I have my Koenig Shield, proper swords and an Adaman suit @.@) over the Medieval Collar, because there are some instances when def is also important (the VIT > DEF argument holds mostly for exp and HNM, but when gilfarming, def seems to work better than vit). The IM gorget provides a better balance between def and vit, and the +15 hp is good for me as a hume with average HP to start with.

I currently use the Coral neck... I love +ACC and my DEF is really damn high and my VIT is *OK* Most groups I join don't seem to have too much of a problem with my tanking ability... it's the fact our damage per second sucks... the fights last too long.

Currently I have +16 ACC... I love it.... soon it will drop when I get my AF gloves but it will be replaced with some DEX.

I am pretty sure I am going to go for Royal Guardsman neck as soon as I can kill shadowlord.... I have the Conquest points gained already.

To make up for the loss of VIT I am planning on buying the Gluttony sword.... that should compensate for quite a while.

I just never see my DEF as a problem... compared to most people (PLD excluded) it's so incredibly high... and the game was designed so a that a DRK or someone COULD tank just not that good.... I have seen very little improvement on my tanking ability with more DEF gear on.... but that +ACC has rocked...

The reason I like the +ACC is that I can do a renkei almost every fight... and I can actually save up 300% TP and pull off a spirits within before having to sit on a 3 or 4 chain.... then I sit after that chain.

I am not exactly a model PLD so you newbies don't write down my +ACC is awesome down as part of the PLD bible.... my +ACC is the main point I deviate away from the PLD norm. (I use sword and shield, use + hate gear, focus mostly on def and vit etc... I just include more +ACC than most PLD)

I'm level 62 atm and I have +15acc thanks to a life belt ( +10acc )and mermaid corral neckgear ( +5acc )

I participate in every renkei of my party and I need as much tp as fast as I can get it. So thats why I concentrate on +acc gear..

Hell at one point I was even looking in a sniper ring :eek: :p

I have gluttony sword and 2 +3 vit ring and I use boiled crab on top on that while exp.. This put me with a nice +24 vit in exp situation.

Overall.. I think the acc+ gear help me a lot in battle to try to keep up with the dark for the renkei.

Perhaps I should go RG collar too....

I had both RG and IM at one point. After test it out on toramas, I sold the RG. I notice no difference on atk/missing. IM's extra hp/vit is always nice for a hume pld. I will not replace it with the new neck piece either. 1 vit < 4 def +15hp.
