anyone notice SATA being kinda touchy lately? I don't know what it is, but I'm finding that I'm missing SATA frequently now in CNest (never had problems before in khazham or garliage). I would position behind the main tank, sec tank vokes, I fire SATA and I do a wonderful 100+ dmg :(
Something is odd cause I have been doing this 100% before. Do you think the patch changed something?

I was doing the same when I fought those dumb crabs in Kuftal for 5 hours. I watched each Viper land and really...I got every one of them except when it moved, yet the damage was varied. Sometimes i'd get 500 -->208-->576-->504-->354...It was odd..I didn't like it lol. Except when you said "Missing" ...there's a difference between missing and doing 100+ damage when missing ;)

On High defense mobs, its nice if the whm or rdm can dia the mob just before your Fuidama goes off. I pull for my groups and when I bring the mob in the second tank vokes which is the que for the red mage to dia the mob. 5 seconds later the main tank has agro from a highly damaging Sneak/Trick attack curteousy of your truly. Dia definitely increases my Fuidama damage by about 30 percent give or take 50-100 damage.
Crabs in Kuftal at 52-53 I would Fuidama for 180-250 without Dia (and Viper Bite and such). With Dia I was doing 290-350 (again without Viper Bite or other WS).
The level of the creature in comparison to you and its abilities of defense make a large difference in the overall Fuidama damage value. Lowering their defence is the first step in good TA/SA damage, thieves cant do it alone, but no group ever is without SOMEONE who can at least Dia (I would hope).

From my experience this happens when the TA portion of the attack actually misses (which it shouldn't IMO). Since you are also doing a SA and WS, you will always hit. Curiously, the game still treats the damage given as trick damage to your partner. Another thing I find is how touchy the TA portion is; if your partner moves just the slightest, it won't connect.

fui always has seemed screwed up vs crawlers, maybe because of changing to higher lvl crawlers, i dunno =\

Maybe your partner is too close to the crawler? My thf friend said his SATA wouldn't do as much if I was touching the crawler. If you stand close to the crawler you'll notice your legs are inside it.

Im noticing the angle seems to be extra touchy recently. One small sidestep by either myself or my fuidama partner is causing a miss :dead:

ugh, it's so frustrating. I got royally abused by a PT member the other night for missing it so many times. :( *sigh* it's not like I wasn't trying... I really do think something has changed.
I've noticed the moving bit some of you have been talking about. I never knew about the too close thing though. I'll try to stand further out then.
well I was also having this problem as of late. one of the last patches seems to have caused this, but anywho..
are you using first person? if not, use it.
what I have seen:
If you are in third person mode, and the CAMERA is not centered, it causes trick attack to miss.
I tested this by getting into position, offcentering my camera, and attacking. whala, trick misses.
same mob, about 10 secs later (not a single person in my party has moved) I activate sneak and trick, and hold "cursor up" to force the camera to center behind me, whala, trick hits.
I tried this about 5 or 6 times, each time the CAMERA is not lined up, trick misses. (first person mode is just like centering the camera)
also another little tidbit, if your trick buddy moves, even an inch, while you're hitting your trick, it will miss. so tell them to keep perfectly still if they're not.
:) hope that helps you guys that are having this problem.

I noticed this too, also that my SATA does way more damage than before, I've been doing SATA over 400 damage and SATA+DC over 1000 damage on ITs and NMs (such as Roc) just at lvl 65...

D:////??? Out of the 50 million Viper Bites i've been doing the past year, i've only missed once or twice as far as I know...|-_-|. I've never ever! gone into first person to do viper. I always align camera to the right or left of my character for a better view of my character and party position. That's all;;

I would miss 1/50 out of my SATA
but it would mostly due to the tank moving a bit to the left or right

If the camera angle has something to do with Trick Attack, would the "Chase Cam" be good to use while fighting? Because it automatically centers the camera behind you....
