Im a New Thf.. What Do i Sub Before i get Nin as Main?

Arguably monk will be your best sub-job until 30. At first you might want to sub warrior to make you more attractive to parties pre-15. Once you get to 15, sub monk, keep your h2h and sword up-to-date and learn to boost stack. (You can do this even if you're pulling, but it'll hamper you on the way back to your camp)

Outside of a BLM mbing or a ranger nailing a critical you will be dealing chunks of damage to the enemy. Once I discovered how useful thf/mnk was early on I simply did so much damage that not even 2 provokes could get a monster off of me. :D

Post-30 it's all a matter of what kind of role you want to fill in for the party. If it's puller (which I like to be) /NIN all the way. If you form your own parties and find a puller to do your job (most likely a RNG/NIN) then you could sub /WAR for overall damage.

However ... with the recent addition of subtle blow, I'm starting to think that thf/nin brings a bit more to a party than a thf/war. Sure you lack the ability to provoke and perfect dodge if need be, but I've found plenty of oppurtunity to take a link (if a blm or brd can't get it to sleep) and tie it up with my evasion and utsusemi until my party can take out the original mob.
