New set of armor vs. Koenig Set? Opinions wanted.

Hello,
As you might have known, or seen in many screenshots, the Koenig/Kaiser Armor set provides an enormous amount of vit and chr in exchange for a lot of -str and -dex.

Koenig Cuirass: 65 DEF
HP+60 STR-10 DEX-10 VIT+20 CHR+20

Koenig Helm: 40 DEF
HP+30 STR-5 DEX-5 VIT+10 CHR+10 Shield+5

Koenig Gloves: 30 DEF
HP+20 STR-5 DEX-5 VIT+10 CHR+10 Enhances "Resist Sleep" effect

Koenig Cuisses: 45 DEF
HP+40 STR-5 DEX-5 VIT+10 CHR+10 Evasion+10

Koenig Boots: 25 DEF
HP+20 STR-5 DEX-5 VIT+10 CHR+10 Enhances "Resist Paralyze" effect

That gives a total of +60 VIT and +60 CHR. (50 on both if you wear the Fafnir Helm, as most of the high level Paladins in screenshots I've seen do.)

I just noticed from the AH, after the update, that there's another new decent armor for Pld's:

Adaman Cuirass: 52 DEF
+8MP, +4 VIT, +4 MND, +3 ENMITY

Adaman Helm: 28 DEF
+12MP, +12HP, +3 VIT, -3 Evade, +3 ENMITY

Adaman Cuisses: 41 DEF
+3 VIT, -3 INT, -1 Evade, +3 ENMITY

Those are all of the parts of the new Adaman series I can find, the other parts aren't present atm. Adaman seems like the AF set, only with added stats and without the upgraded job abilities. Though doesn't give as much Vit or Chr as Koenig, it does however give enmity, and doesn't eat up your Str and Dex.

Anyway, I'd just like to get the opinions of some of the other high level paladins viewing the forum; which armor set do you prefer, provided that your given the option to wear the Aegis helm with the Koenig set?

I saw someone with the adaman set already on (I'm still not done downloading the update). Her name was Fairlady...

also, the set of armor was Rare/Ex...so maybe they changed that in this patch?

There is the cursed chain armor that is Adaman Hauberk, mufflers, etc and is Rare/Ex. This is new plate Adaman armor that is neither rare or Ex.

Anyway I'm determined to get Adaman armour even if it takes me 10 years. IMO Adaman shouldn't be compared to Koenig but to Relic...

Here is a pic of an Elvaan in full Koenig Armor. If you want to know how the Adaman counterpart looks like, just replace the color of this set with blue and there u have it^^

That Adaman set I think is the same armor Sagesundi (The GM) wore. I like the Koenig/Kaiser set more than the Adaman if you pair it up with the Aegis helm. Then again, the Koenig/Aegis set is probably much harder to get than Adaman. :(

The new Adaman Cuirass set is a high level smithing combine, in all likelyhood.

Koenig armor is a much more involved process.

First, you need to find someone willing to make and sell the cursed cuirass et al to you. Then, you need to kill one of several HNMs (Aspidochelone, Kirin, Genbu, Suzaku, Seiryu, Byakko, Fafnir, King Behemoth, and Nidhogg) for the related Abjuration item.

Once you have both of those, you take them to an NPC in the Cathedral in San d'Oria, who will transform the cursed item into its Koenig equivalent, which is RA/EX.

Koenig/Caiser is better for any real hnm battle. For messing around at serket/behemoth or other tier two nm's Adaman is way better considering it doesn't have the dex/str negative modifiers.

Enmity + isn't an issue for hnm's considering your not really hitting the monsters in the first place and charisma helps your provokes become stronger. Unless enmity also translates to spells (which i think it does considering blm have -enmity items and never actually melee...) But even than I'll take huge charisma boosts over +enmity considering you can only cure maybe every voke round during an hnm fight or you'll run out of mana.

And no it doesn't matter if say a hume has a bigger mana pool than an elvaan so they can cure more.

A. I have as much mana as any hume my level because of my +60 mana belt that i can switch in and out during battle.

B. Your curing for 1000's of mana during these battles with double regen on, so any initial 30-50 mana difference isn't going to matter one bit. heh
