I am currently a Level 16 WAR and i am going to be a DRK. I want to know if this that i have planned is the best way to go or if you suggest a better way to start out.

I will Take WAR to 18, then THF/WAR to THF37/WAR18. Then it will be WAR/THF to WAR37/THF37. After this I will do the DRK quest and do DRK/WAR to DRK60/WAR37 and then DRK60/THF37 to DRK75/THF37.

Please suggest all you think I should change about this unless you think this this is perfect.

I would level monk to lvl 18 to sub for war. If you plan to take war to lvl 37, you will need something better than thf sub to make it by as a decent tank. Thf sub is ok below level 30, but it get pretty painful to take hits with the lower vit, hp and no counter.

You will also use monk sub's h2h attack boosts for thief since h2h starts off as a much better weapon until lvl 33 than a dagger or sword.

WAR > 18
THF/WAR > 37
WAR/THF > 37
DRK/WAR > 60
DRK/THF > 75

I think that will work just fine. MNK is a better sub for WAR if you are tanking, but I think you can get away without it.

that should also allow you enough times to get enough funds to get the best gear for your DRK =) I like your plan

I think your on the right track, but I would suggest subbing thief for a more powerful class. Monk is good and unless your an Elvaan than you might want to try white magic.

What is this refering too? If youa re talking about WAR, then /THF would only be really good post 30, MNK is the best for a tank because of the extra vit, hp, and guard, but you dont sub WHM to WAR you'll just look like a noob or wanna-be PLD.

Now if youa re talking about DRK... THF is really the only thing you might want to do, but its best 60+. MNK isnt needed since youa rent a tank, and you dont do DRK/WHM... that doesnt help AT ALL

he could take WAR/THF to 30...it's really easy to hold agro as a WAR even w/o boost =/

Wow ... I would get
War (watever subjob)-> 37
then DRK/WAR -> 60
then lvl up thief ...

If you go from War 1-37 and then thief 1-37 ... you're going to be bored as HELL. Unless you actually try to find a different place to exp ... it's boring. Just getting to 37 twice is boring imagine 3 times ... Just my opinion.

It's good to have a feel of being above 37 for a while, allows you to do more, (AF, helping lowbies, etc....) before you start lvling a different sub ... you'd probably get bored of the game before you even get a high lvl drk ...

if i could do it all over again id go war til 20. then go back an lvl thf til 20. then take war til 30-37. you would save big time gil cause both class's can use the same gear up until 30. plus taking both class's to 37 is not worth it. because in the end you will prob go drk/war til lvl 30. then subbin thf only when farmin. an still takin drk/war up to an maybe past 60. plus you may not even want to sub thf. you just might want to sub something else. also you can always go back an level thf later. it would break up the drk leveling,

as for leveling monk for a war sub. in my mind is a waste of time. basically all melee class's you will use will have war sub. drg/war. sam/war an so on. not to many will have mnk as there sub. so basically you spent all that time lvling a mnk for sub to really never use after war has reached his main lvl. when on the other hand you can use both war, an thf for drk.. just seems smarter to me.

seems to me he wants to get all sub lvling done with so he'll never have to do it again, which to me is pretty intresting.

Heh, my route is more painful.

So far, I've gotten my War to 25, Thf to 35, and both Pld and Drk are around 24.

One set of armor for those three job classes...that's going to be a lot of leveling in the Jungles. =(

I'm in the exact same boat as the guy who stared this topic. I'm a 16 WAR on my way to DRK.

This is probably a stupid question - Why is it important to level THF? Can't you just stay a plain WAR until you can get the DRK job?

THF is the DRK sub 60+ for Trick Attack...you really won't understand how deadly this is untill you see it yourself used in exp pts...basically it works like this, the next hit you do, the mob thinks the guy in front of you did it...for example let's say you trigger souleater, stand behind the PLD, Trick Attack, Guillotine...mob thinks the PLD did 800+ dmg =o

haha hisdon said it best with that one. an with the mob thinking pld did all that damage thus the pld had almost total control of hate. that means less hits to other pt members, an whm can pay almost total attention to pld health.

ok how does it work since you are newish to the game. SNEAK ATTACK. is were a thf at lvl 15 or higher lines up behind a mob. an does an atk, almost always scoring a high damage critical hit. when used with a weapon skill is even more damage..

TRICK ATTACK is gained at lvl 30. it is a stronger version of sneak attack an also is done from behind. an when done behind another player. it makes all hate go to him.now what is done is simply this. in the fight 1 other melee class takes hate control. the pld lines up in back. the lvl 30 thf will line up behind the pld, an click on sneak attack followed by trick attack. then followed by weapon skill. in doing so correctly the mob turns around an hates the crap out of the pld for the remainder of the fight..

thats why it is the perferred sub after lvl 60
