Hey everyone,
I've got a question about successfully pulling one monster. I've come over from everquest where you could pull one by itself with "body pulling." But in FF if two aggressive monsters are near each other i can't figure out how to just get one of them. Is it possible to pull one or do you have to fight both no matter what?
Thanks for any help!!

depends. if one has there back to the other pull the one facing you. unless theyre aggro to sound. you don't want to pull when to mobs are aggro and link, and are by one another, jusrt got to play your cards right and with time youll get it down when and when not to pull. just that some ppl cant seem to get it down and pull about 5 mobs :D...but its a learning process youll know with time.

Certain types/families have characteristics that describe how they aggro. First their is active/passive. Active means that they may initiate a battle with you. This happens based on what type of "aggro" they are:
Sight - if you are in their field of vision and you are close enough. Sometimes mobs see better at night or during the day, I've been told.
Sound - if you walk within a certain radius of the mob
Magic - if you cast within a certain radius of the mob
HP - if you walk or stand with yellow HP within a certain radius of the mob.
Most of these active aggro methods are null and void if the mob cons "weak" or in EQ terms, "green." I know that some HP aggro mobs will aggro you if you kneel near them.
Passive mobs will only Link to help out mobs of the same family. The method in which they link can be one or more of the aggro methods above (Not sure if they could link from HP though...)
Just like in EQ where a mob may "pass the hate" to his buddies nearby, same thing happens in FFXI.
Let's say you are fighting Yagudo. They aggro and link by sight. Meaning that if one Yagudo sees you, he will aggro you. If his buddy sees either you OR another yagudo fighting you, he will link (aggro you as well).
Not all mobs link. Hell, some mobs don't aggro or link, like Mandragoras.

Just for imput reasons. Some mandragora types to link if one is pulled near by. Go to the Boyahda Tree ( spelling) off of the Sanctuary of Zitah. You will see the madras link but not aggro.
