View Full Version : Subbed trick attack ...not all hits?

So from many sources i've heard that with /thf sub, trick transfers all hits of a multihit skill. But it seems to me that is definitely not the case. For instance, the mob is on tank. I'll trick guillo behind the tank for 400, and the other melee will follow with 350. The mob still turns onto the other guy! At first i thought i was strangely missing trick, but the mob never hit me, even if i guillo straight at the beginning of the fight, which i can't even think of doing without trick, unless i want asshanded to me.
So i'm pretty convinced that the hate transfer works with only the first hit, or perhaps a percentage of total damage or something. I've even had instances where I'll use souleater trick guillo for 700, the other guy lands for 400-500, and it turns. Doesnt make sense:mad:

Trick attack only works on the following hit in any and all of its forms. Therefore trick will only affect the first hit of guillotine while the other 3 will give the emnity to the dark knight. This is why spinning slash is so loved, because all the damage is put into 1 hit, and the DRK takes nothing for it.

hmm, that ...sucks.
No, sneak only effects the 1st hit. Trick is all the hits.

Sneak Attack affects only 1st hit
Trick attack counts in the damage done by the entire subsequent WS and thus transfers that amt of hate to the trick attack target in question.

It still contradicts that attacker#2 will take hate with 300 dmg when I just tricked onto the tank for 400 dmg. And the tank already had been holding hate before the renkei. Unless someone has a more solid argument, i'm convinced that subbed trick hate transfer is not full dmg of a multihit skill.

The person who finishes the skillchain also takes the enmity of the skillchain. with a finishing weapon skill that does 300 dmg, the renkei bonus is probably about 120-140.

that skillchain damage seems to be a reasonable explanation. I suppose 300+140 compared to 400 *might* be enough to grab hate, especially if the monster hits the pld with a special right before it turns.

Another possible reason could be that the tank took some damage after the trick, which reduced his hate. And since were just talking about a rough 50 damage difference, that could have lowered his hate enough where Attacker #2's hate was higher.
Maybe, could be? I don't melee so I could be wrong.

Some WS's give more hate than others. Also don't forget that WAR AF and SAM AF have +emnity as stats on them, which could be a factor.

I'm just going to chalk it up to either skillchain damage, or different WS transferring different amounts of hate (ie, not fixed amount based strictly on damage). The attacker #2 was a monk doing raging fists. Most plds can hold hate off a 300 dmg weaponskill, let alone 400 tricked onto them, so clearly, 400 wasn't tricked onto them, but I didnt get the hate either. Maybe something like 50% of hate transfers for guillotine or something like that, who knows. Unsolved mysteries.:dead:
