First off a bit of role-playing background. Akrith has spent the past 20 years growing up inside of a Elvaan prison. His father was declared a spy by Temple Knights and the whole family gets locked up and seperated when he was a boy. Upon the need for more adventures to help the Elvaan nation an unknown adventurer (any Elvaan on the Unicron server that wants to be this person let me know, great RP oppurtunity ) gets him out to help his adopted country.
Upon being released into the world with a rusted sword and some clothes told to go fight for the people who had me locked up for most of my life kinda left with a sour taste in my mouth. Well seeing as how I needed money to get out of this place I set about to make my fortune. The shear amount of people was amazing. People running past faster than I could follow. Wizards using spells to disappear in an instant and the groups of veteran adventurers coming off an airship was a sight to be seen. Asking around it seemes that rabbit meat and hides could be sold for a fair amount. Well I wasn't the only one who thought this! After a few good kills (and running for my life fleeing from a huge orc) I started to get a a bit hurt and was bleeding from the nicks and cuts that the wild rabbits whiplike tail caused and from nowhere a hume healer by the name of Threejays healed me. A complete stranger! Needing no thanks he went about his business and I was stunned that he helped me and asked for no payment what so ever. I aquired a new bronze sword and some extra armour and went about to avenge my self from the orc who had a good laugh at my expense. After creeping into the woods further than I've been I found what I was looking for but I was startled to see he was a magic user as well! I fought tooth and nail and barely survived but victorious (4 hp left out of around 60  ). After resting a bit one of the little people , a tartaru I think, assisted me with the healing and I help dispatch a large beetle that had been persuring her. She addressed herself as angelofjoy and shortly after the beetle we ran into another orc who charged straight for her and there was little I could do (no provoke only lvl 3 currently) and she fell. The last thing I saw were two huge warriors one with a huge scythe cleaving the orc in two and then all went black. I awoke nearby and of angelofjoy there was no sign. I only hope she is okay and I feel terrible I could not do more for her. I now have a new sense of purpose and well try to defend those who cannot defend themsleves from the darkness of the world. I believe the path of the Order of Paladins will be my calling.....
*P.S. if 3jays or angelofjoy read this :handsdown
**P.P.S. for all of those who bothered to read all of this.. thanks

"Bunny Clubbing and Delusions of Granduer"
Well my 2nd day has proved more eventful. After getting fustrated delivering 15 flyers for money and not finding the right people I started working on getting level 5 for provoke (so the angelofjoy thing won't happen again). I also decided to get into using clubs and maces instead of swords just to be different. Yes I know they do about the same damage only slower but I gotta be different  . After a good amount of "bunny clubbing" and lvl5 achieved, I got a bit overzealous and charged the nearest orc I could find.....and died. Back to lvl4... So more bunny clubbing was needed. A nice Galka monk by the name of Phunk wanted to help me level up so we went orc hunting together as a party. I barley got to kill anything before the Phunker finished him off...I was thrilled when I got a hit in. After both of us dying from some huge orc with a spear we went back out again and met up with a tarutaru warrior by the name of miniman. We went further into the orc territory then I had hoped for and got split up from them ( I was stunned by watching someone take on a Orc Stonechucker by himself) and I died again listening to miniman trying to find me, it was kinda funny. After a break for Easter dinner I decided to get into carpentry for some extra gil. Hopefully things will get better soon.
Gotta learn patience....must learn patience......

Hahaha, i love that frame of mind. I used to think the exact same way. Don't worry, there'll come a time when you will pull 20+ of those, then kill them all at the same time with one foul swoop.
Until then, watch out for those Grunts (spear orc which you forgot name:sweat: )

**First off, an apology. I'm unable to post pics on my work computer and seeing as I have no computer at home all I can say is bare with me.**
"Night Lurking and A Leader of Men....sorta"
Well after consulting the San D'Oria library ( my strategy guide) I noticed I already had the first mission completed and just needed to officially do it. So after a nice chat with a guard and one quick trade for an orcish axe I got with my travels with Phunk and Miniman. I was on my way. He then told me about a tomb that was rumoured to be desecrated and wanted me to check it out. Sure, no problem I thought. And who should I find healing by a gate but good ole Phunk in his warrior gear. He wanted to go orc hunting again ( a common Galka pastime I guess) and I said sure. After a bit of old fashion killin he had to go. I really believe that we need to adopt a healer before we get too far. Anyways...I figured finding out where this tomb is would be a good idea , just to scout it out a bit. The only main problem was it was in the dead of night. Well the better to hide in I figured. *Cue Mission Impossible theme* Stalking through the trees I headed south avoiding all contacts with anything I can eventually finding a woman praying in a small building but no tomb. After some further lurking a orc grappler got ahold of me and like any 5th lvl pc should....I ran. I almost made it to the gates before he took me down. If I hadn't of used my Mighty Strike earlier with Phunk I would've tried taking him. 2nd attempt, I went to other places and ran into a goblin....HA! In any fantasy setting goblins are chumps.....until he pulled out the bomb. What the? 3rd attempt, okay I'm not doing anything until I get to 7th or 8th level I decided. I ran into a new warrior by the name of Darknite (like I'm not new...) and decided to lend him a hand. The best piece of advice I could give him was "If you see something standing upright on 2 legs....RUN". After a bit of fun I gave him some rabbit hides I had and told him where to cash them in. He seemed thrilled. Some random person just wanted to team with me while I was saving someone being chased by a goblin (I'll never learn...). After a good chase (those buggers are fast) I killed it and met up with my new teammate a healer named Graph. Good guy....after a fight with an Orc (Graph kept healing me after every hit thus changing the orcs aggro to him.. ). Another healer I met when I tried to save her from a orc I think...ran into us and healed me. Her name is Altana, nice and talkative. Well I now have the White Mage contacts started so when I get to tackling the tomb if I get the Phunker and one of them I should be all set. Heck if we work it out right maybe all of us can clear it at once.....
Well thanks for reading.....
I'm glad to see a role player!...hahaha.
Well I fell in love with the story line and the back ground, it was awesome. Great job. Keep it up  !!!

@ Hart : Awwww shucks...
"Playing Big Brother and White Magic Test Drive"
Well, things were going nice and slow now that the Easter event is over and Southern San d'Oria isn't littered with people selling eggs. Figures i get my first one too....
/shout Anyone need a B?
Anyways, I find Darknite lurking about with a shiny new scythe. I asked him if he's taken up farming and I don't think he found it too funny. Lets see....scythe, check....sour attitude, check.....spooky name, check.....a Dark Knight in the making got it. He lets me know that he's looking for money and I trade him a pair of rabbit meat for a Earth Crystal (hey he offered...). I showed him some places around town where he can get a shield cheap and sell the rabbit meat I traded to him to help get him started. He seemed very pleased and I sent him on his way to make his fortune.....only to turn to the darkness. Hmmm maybe I got through to him with kindness and he will see the errors in his ways and head over to the light of the Paladin!! *Cues Heroic Trumpets* Well I also wanted to get a feel for using the healing power of light so after a quick change of clothes (magic doesn't flow too well through armour I guess). I started bunny clubbing and using Cure to heal and only resting to regain my magic back. I can get used to this....I'm almost at level 7 in warrior and it seems that I should be hunting more Orc than anything else. Perhaps teaching those sneak goblins a thing or too as well. Oh, the wierdest thing happened...I was doing my usual fighting orcs and getting in over my head thing when a particular orc fodder was giving me a heck of a time. Just then I thought I was done for when I noticed an armoured man watching me....then he starts healing me and casts a protection and shell spell on me. I went over to thank him and he took off his helmet and it was me! He then ran off into the woods and I was freaked out (Like Luke in Dagobah freaked out). Clearly the role of the Paladin has been laid before me.
Thanks for reading....
It is your destiny, your fate awaits you in the path of the Palidan...

"Patience Lesson Learned and Finding Faith"
Well not to much happened last night. I was out hunting and getting further and further into the woods when I reached an Elvaan outpost. Figuring this would be a good place for a home point I set out And got gobsmacked. And again. And again. And so on..... Well so much for heading down this far. I tried to head back towards civilization (for fear of losing a lvl). And sollowed my pride and went after "softer" targets. I even got to alert some people resting about an orc trying to ambush them thus saving them alot of grief. After some steady kills I was getting close to my goal and I kept going. Not trying to rush too far. After ataining my goal (lvl 7) and realilizing that I made quite abit of gil. I went back to town and bought some new armour finally (no more gladiator bondage gear). I ran into another warrior named Theking and thanked him for the kind words he gave during my fustration at the outpost. After a quick salute, I called it a night. While in my house I noticed a small imperfection in my floor boards. My newly founded carpentry skills coming into play. After realizing it was a hiding spot underneath, I found a set of what appeared to be prayer books and a small diary. After briefly skimming through the pages it appears that the author, a man named Luthor, a priest of a diety I've never heard of refered as Shallaya, Mistress of Mercy. Quickly I went to the last entry and discovered that the books were hidden for fear of the Temple Knights finding them and declaring them heretical. Judging by the nervous state my moogle was know in I feel further investagaion is needed.
OoC- On a more productive note I did set a few combat macros to make Akrith a more "spiritual warrior". Mainly making a quick prayer before executing a job ability or weapon skill. My girlfriend spent most of last night using her Mithra red mage named Zev so I had limited access to the ol AK. She is doing quite well reaching lvl 6 in about half the time as me. Granted she hasn't died nearly as much  .
Again, Thanks for reading.....
This is soo cool, it's getting better and better. The floor bord idea was ingenious!....this is awesome. I'll deffinately keep reading. I love it, this is so cool.
*You mean you really saw yourslef..... weird. So it is a sign,,,you should be a Palidan.*

OoC- @Hart-Yeah it was really odd. Granted he just had the same head style (bald with the tattoo) but still what are the odds? Thanks for the complements. I've been tossing around the Shallaya idea and how to explain it further. There may even be a few unexpected twists in there. I'm really trying to take what I do in the game and the pure role-playing stuff to be just add-ons to tie things together. I don't want an RP idea to dictate how I play the game. Who knows something could happen tonight that may change Akrith forever and lead him to a life of crime...? Though, I do have a plan for him. Oh, and Hart, if I manage to grab a world pass and the Elvann character who let Akrith out of prison is still vacant (and I think it will be) it's all yours if you want it.
And thanks for all the lurkers who take time out of their day to read this yet don't say nothin......
Thats one thing I love about RP'ing you never know whats ganna happen, especialy in Vana' diel  .
As for the Elvaan,,,I'd be honored to play!!!
  ! awesome, fun.
Well personaly things aren't going to well in my life right now, but always look forward to reading this specific post/story at the end of the day, or when ever I get the chance, I guess it kinda makes me feel better. I wonder what's going to happen to Akrith next... I guess we'll know when the time comes. Thanks for continuing your RP.
Keep it up

OoC- My PlayOnline server was down yesterday so I wan't able to add any real journal info but decided to add more background in the mystery of Shallaya.
"Sheep Hunting and the Ideals of Shallaya"
I recently went hunting again with Phunk and he was using his brand new greatsword and has taken up wild sheep hunting as opposed to orcs. We also took an Elvaan warrior by the name of Menetheal with us but his lack of battle experience seemed to not thrill Phunk too well. While departing around town it was Phunk who gave Menetheal some of his own money to help him out. Good man that Phunker. I think I my try to get ahold of the kid to show him some money making spots around town if he doesn't know of them. I've also taken up reading some of Luthers diary in my spare time and found some interesting things regarding Shallaya. It seems that the Mistress of Mercy, as he calls her, is mainly concerned with healing and granting mercy to others who seem to have even the faint showing of light in their hearts. Their order never use bladed weapons. The belief behind it is that life is to precious to be ended by another in the heat of battle. They feel it is better to disable their limbs or knock them out and later teach them through kindness and forgiveness and try to save them thus making the light stronger. She does hold a great problem with the forces of undead. The fact that these spirits were not given a merciful rest displeases her greatly. So much so that her order of Paladins ,called the White Martyrs of Shallaya, have been built around the idea of dispatching and hunting down these creatures of the night. I have begun to suspect by the adventures told in his diary that Luthor in fact was one of those White Martyrs is intriguring to say the least. Of more of a description of Luthor there is none. I have no idea if he is Hume, Elvaan, or even Tarutaru. The deeper I get into this mystery the more confusing it becomes......
Thanks for reading...
ooooo So mysterious... . Sounds like Akrith has got a mystery on his hands. I like the idea of the White Martyrs of Shallaya, extremly intiguing.
This just keeps getting better and better... hopefuly your server will be up today.

OoC-Sorry for the delay. My modem had problems that I discovered were an easy fix ofcourse three days later.
"Assault on the Orcs and Planning for Death"
I headed out seeking King Ranperre's Tomb again....(yes I still haven't found it... ) and after getting fustrated I headed over to the Ghelsba Outpost to take my fustrations out on the Orcs that dwell there. In my travels I teamed with a Taru healer named Byudan and later an Elvaan warrior named Lizardking (?) and a Elvaan monk named Deven. Deven is quite familiar with the area and we had some good fights. I even got to help killing two Stonechuckers! (Man I wish I could post pics...  ). For some reason we were headed to Fort Ghelsba itself. It was a really cool sight with the rope bridges leading to it. We got ambushed hard being out numbered by like 7-4 and they all ran....I stayed behind trying to buy them some time (Being the hero that I am.....: ) ). The only one who made it out was Deven. We didn't hear from him again and it was myself with Byu and LizKing back at the gates. Byu led the way around Western Ronfaure picking out targets for Lizzie and I to bash. OoC- It was real funny...it was like a Taru Don King leading his fighters around and saying "Kill him and make me exp....now that thing.....now that...". It was getting late and we parted our seperate ways and I headed back into town and bought myslef a new shield. I'm currently planning on asking Byu, Phunk, and a taru redmage Rickytan (I know only through reputation) to assault the tomb once and for all! I'm going to get a map of the place and start planning soon.
Thanks for reading.....

"The origins of Shallaya"
I found through the Shallaya prayer books I found the origin of this person worshipped by some as the Mistress of Mercy. It appears there was an island of the coast near the city of Norg. It was a prosporing land where the men and land were one. Shallaya was a skilled healer in these times and was a leader of the people and led them in peace. In these times alot of the ideals of the church of Shallaya were made practice. After her passing the people seemed to worship her as a protecting force even in death. About 200 yrs after a man named Braleth tried to change the face of the land in his own sense of order.....in unliving death. Using the power of dark crystals and synthesising them into himself he was neither living nor dead...everything he touched died...from the southeastern shores the dead walked in a mockery of the living. In these dark times the White Martyrs were formed and laid waste to the plague that was before them. With the faith of Shallaya behind them they were pushing back the forces of Braleth and before he could finally be defeated he used all of his considerable power he summoned the power of the sea and for 6 days he eventually sank the unknown island beneath its crashing waves. Before the island completely sank a group of Shallayans were sent to preach the word of her so she would not be forgotten. These Last Pilgrims ,as they were called, carried with them all the information of Shallaya and their doomed land. Of Braleth they say his spirit lingers and is the cause for the undead in the greater Norg area......
Thanks for reading....... Whew! that took a bit....
!!! !!! A new journey begins. Good stuff, this Braleth puts a new plot/threat to this story. Cool, so a group of them suvivded and carried on her name. How creative :spin: .

@ Celeras I actually know where it is.....I just keep dying before I get there...
OoC-Well I got my first taste real of what party combat is like last night (6 members in it fighting tough things I would never look at bymyself). Suffice to say the group I was with was very experienced and knew what they were doing.....and decided to not take the time to explain to me what they wanted of me. I can understand the concept of warrior=tank but when you can't even tell said warrior i.e. Me the correct way to set up a Provoke macro the way they would like and the rest of the party getting itchy sword hands it makes it kinda annoying for the new guy. Well, lesson learned and I figured how they would've liked it set after I logged off. I had two main problems with last night (well 3, they kept calling me ARK) ....the lack of party patience and I didn't like the idea of just engaging a target and waiting to use either a w.skill or provoke. All the while hoping I didn't die from an unexpected critical hit if the healers weren't doing their job. I've always liked the "artillery" approach as opposed to the "tank". Felt more comfortable to me. So if you start seeing a radical change in attitude in the ol' AK then you've been warned. What he's going towards is more of the "high school live action role playing Akrith" I used to do and was quite fond of and I kind of miss (I'm now 28 to give a reference of how long ago that was). I'll still keep the storyline and try to incorperate it when ever I can weave it in. It's just gonna get a bit more dark in here........

"The Weakness of Steel...."
While I was on a recent adventure into the La Theine Plateau (my first time) I noticed something that was kinda bothersome to me. While we were resting I noticed all the warriors working on keeping their swords sharp and the beastmaster trying to keep it's pet from biting her nose off. Finally there were the white mages....keeping the magic stored inside them to keep the warriors up because they cannot rely on themselves to get out of a jam on their own. I actually felt depressed....here were a bunch of people completely dependent weapons and armour or needing warriors to fight for them. Until on the horizon I saw a man fighting off a giant bird with not with a weapon he had to buy and slave away keeping it sharp later on or using a warrior to fight for you while you heal them up. No this man used the actual power of the cosmos itself. It was quite a sight. Now that is freedom.....that is power. After we seperated I went home and started doing some research. First I figured I needed to get my own staff so I'm setting out to aquire a hatchet and make my own. As I went to sleep I remember looking at the armour and weapons piled on the floor and thinking....soon I'll be a slave to you no more.
Power of cosmos... .
