Greetins all, just wondering about the PC control setup..

Are they anything like EQ? Can you customize the keyboard setup / layout?

I hear its perty bad and people advise the use of a ps2 controller with the PC. This needed really?

If so what is the adapter called? Any controller work and what kind of price tag would I be reading?

Thx all!

Peace

Try the compact keyboard configuration. I like it more than the default set up. It enables you to keep both hands on the key board and minimize the use of the mouse.

Another related question. Can you set macros to other keys other than the nummber keys?

Full keyboard mode here... never touch the mouse... i find it to be pretty egonomical when you get the hang of it

I find the control to be, for the most part, a bit sloppy compared to EverQuest, but it still gets the job done. You don't need a controller... some people prefer it... I find the controller better for certain things (especially cycling through targets), but for other things, the keyboard is faster/better... plus you need to use a keyboard to type, and I find switching between a controller and the kyeboard a pain.

As for the adapter, any PlayStation to USB adapter will do the trick... you can search the web for one, there are lots of different ones from different brands. I personally bought mine from Radio Shack (Radio Shack brand). What type of controller you can use will depend on the specific adapter. Some will work with any PS2/PS controller (or claim to), some don't guarantee they will work properly with 3rd party (non-Sony) controllers, and some may only work with PS1 controllers.

Or you can buy a PC controller that plugs directly into the game or USB port, but most PC controllers kind of suck, so you'd probably be better off getting a PlayStation controller and adapter if you're going to go that route.

Personally I use the compact keyboard layout and never touch the mouse while playing, except to place markers on my maps.

I play with the compact keyboard setup(mainly because I play on a laptop...so i kinda HAVE to use that setup ;) ). I never touch the mouse, and personally I really like the controls.

I've been using the default controls (Full Keyboard) since I started and once you get used to them, I find it really easy to get things done.

Any sort of new configuration will take time to get used to, but once you've gotten comfortable with it it's not bad at all.
