View Full Version : Very discouraged with post 20 leveling...

Does leveling slow down really bad after 20, or have I just had bad groups? I haven't seen an xp chain since 20th, and ever since I arrived in Qufim haven't gotten over 70 per kill with a ton of downtime in between kills.

I'm very discouraged right now,

Any advice?

You seem to be partying with idiots. Qufim exp certainly shouldn't be that slow.

it was in a span of about 6-8 hours i think, i cant totally remember.

I try to get on as early as I can to PT with Japanese players XD.
Partying with them is like having sex with a German woman: fast and efficient. Qufim isn't as bad as people say when you're with (nice) Japanese players.

if you're only getting 70/kill, I'm thinking you've been invited to parties that had people significantly higher level than you.

Assuming you're Lv20 as it says in your profile, worms should easily be giving you 100+/kill at the minimum.

OMGLMFAO. Where do you get the time to come up with that? If you're pting in qufim it's a good idea to start getting a WHM or RDM with Regen. I tank a lot and Regen helps emensely. If you're lucky, get a Brd with Regen songs. Downtime will be less horrible. And carbon was right, if you're partying and getting 70 xp per kill, someone is waaayyyy too high of a level.

Yup.

probably have like a 23 in party and fighting worms still... try moving on to clippers and the exp will pick up or if your still around 20-21 kick the higher level out and continue fighting worms.

although i dont think 80 a pop is that bad... the big flash numbers dont impress me... only thing that impresses me is constant exp flow and i mean fast... bam bam bam one after another.

if that means tons of 70-80's i can live with that.

What Rodin said. Personally I start getting impatient (at any level) when half the kills don't earn me at least 100 exp... that's an indication that either the party has outgrown the monsters we're fighting, or there's someone in the party whose level is too high. I hate the way a single person having a higher level can totally ruin the exp in a party, but that's the way this game is designed. In those circumstances you might have to politely ask the higher level person to take a walk.

If you're not breaking 100 exp per kill on monsters and you're not getting experience chains, something is definitely wrong.

At just about any level beyond level 20, an excellent, well balanced party fighting the right monsters should fairly routinely be reaching chain #3, at 130-220 exp per kill.

So, to answer your question, yes, leveling does slow down as you level up, but it should be because you have to earn more exp per level, not because parties are churning out less exp per hour. If anything, the reverse is true... as you level up, it gets easier to take on creatures that will net you more exp per kill and chain them... in a good party. The challenge is finding/forming a good party.

Just remember, the important thing is xp/time. People are always anxious to kill the hardest things. It's like you join a party and everybody is thinking, "Alright, lets figure out what will kill us. Then, back it off a little."

Not the way to go. Also lvl gap is not as big an issue as some will make it out to be. Just keep an eye on who your highest level is and see what the mobs are checking to them. As long as the mobs check IT to them your xp penalty will be minimal.

Sure maybe you can kill a clipper, but think about it. Worms don't have stoneskin, plus they never chase you if things get ugly. Maybe they give you 1/2 the xp, but you can kill them more than 2 times as fast. 70 xp per kill is definitely not ideal, but if you are doing it at 100 mph then it still adds up.

One of my favorites, despite my hate for Qufim, is to hang out at the lake. You can chain worms and finish chains on clippers. I recall Getting to chain 4 or so then finishing with a clipper for great xp.

XP seemed really slow at 20-24 for me too all 3 times I did it, but it seems to speed up again once getting to Kazham and related Jungles at 24.

I find leveling between 20 - 30 is pretty fast though...

it is very fast. not uncommon for 2, even 3 lvl's a night (a night being only a couple hours).

you'll soon realize the error in your words - the 50's are really slow, AF, genkai, coupled with the HUGE XP jump at 51.

cheers.
