What my friend told me the best damage dealer was DRK/NIN

I think my friend is kinda stupid and he's a noob too. I asked him wat is the best damage dealer is and he said that its DRK/NIN 'cause DRK has a lot of damage increasing ability combined with NIN's duel wield ability + Blade: Ku skill (he told me that since ku is 5 hit and he has 2 weapons... he will hit 10 times... or sth like that...)

this is his plan... he only played FFXI for 3 days and he always search the net for this kind of information...

No, its not true. A Drk can't even use a katana, and can't do that weapon skill anyway. Yes, your friend is a dumb noob.

Considering the skill ranks in weapons other than great sword and scythe double swords or axes can be done but you would miss most enemies a lot unless you were many levels above the enemy.

what i have seen so far at 50-59 is that drk/nin is a nice combo. Viking axe = 10 acc and if u can get some cash for a blood sword thats another nice wep but if u cant get it 2 viking axes = 20 acc and u cant find that at that lvl, hate to stress it but snipers going for 400k a pop on a lot of servers so seeing a drk at 50-59 with a at least one sniper is rare so to have +20 acc is like a "wow" kinda mod.

Rampage, thats all i really have to say. While im doing poor damage with vorpal (and insert any other shity gswd ws) the drk/nin is doing SERIOUS ws damage (even though its not SC friendly).

But alas at 60 drk is saved by gillo and FINALLY we have a REAL ws that does REAL damage and the whole rampage thing goes out the window because gillo > rampage and not only on a damage basis but on a SC one also.

also side note u dont see the speed increase until DW3 so in fact IMHO drk/nin DW is nothing important but the fact that if u used 2 viking axes u would have +20 acc.


i am a 65 drk that plans on becoming a ninja. I just think nin is an amazing job and i see ppl using /nin as a sub are really missing out but alas this job isnt for everyone.

Ok then, One handed Katana's are actually Ninjato. The Great Katana's are refered to as Tachi often, or sometimes they seem to resemble Nodachi's.

The One handed Sword could be a variety of swords. Sometimes they're Gladius's, sometimes Short Swords, sometimes Falchion's, sometimes Scimatar's..

Gun's seem to resemble somewhat more advanced matchlocks. Some of the hand to hand weapons are Katar's. And yes, One handed Scythes would be Sickles. There's details. ^_^

Drk/nin is like war/nin

you can argue who is stronger between the 2, equipment decides this factor

Drk/Thf or Drk/War is probably better for damage wise. Drk/Nin are mostly used for NM's or on dynamis if you dont have a designated healer for your pt. Having the option to blink when you get aggro is nice. But for lvling wise 1hs damage is weak and considering that Drks are mostly the lvl 3 skill chain closers its probably better to use Scyth and GS.

I gota say thats wrong. ive loged numbers during a bunch of nms and af3 raids and guilo has outdamaged my drk/nin rampage every time. Not to mention i have also outdamaged him every time by at least 800-1000 total damage. Talking same gear setup with same amount of acc and both lvl 60.

My take on it is until lvl 60 drk/nin is very effective but who has the time to cap all these weapons...... Also i feel that one could be better served on such raids as a pure ninja and not a drk/nin.

I use DRK/NIN for my BCNM30 static 3 man party. Works like a charm with 2 1 hand swords - got totally trashed as a WAR/NIN with the same setup.

.... guillo is a joke man it's weak, misses all of the time and is worth little without soul stacked onto it, once u get CR guillo is forgotten.
